Bernie, Missouri - It was touch and go in the first quarter, as Bernie was only able to gain a one-point advantage over Campbell in the Bernie Invitational Tournament.  However the other three quarters belonged to the Mules! It just took a little warming up!  Way to go Bernie!!

Three Mules were in double digits.  Returning Mules B.J. Jennings scored a game-high 23 points for the Mules along with Caleb Ellenburg who tallied 18 points.  Justin Stanfield also recorded 13 points.

Bernie scored almost as many points in treys as Campbell had on the board.  A total of 9 were recorded for the Mules.  Jennings and Wagner made three each.  Stanfield added two more treys and Matt Vernon added one more.

The Mules will be back in action on Thursday evening hosting Holcomb in the Championship Quarterfinal.  Game time is 6 p.m.

Farmington, Missouri – The Lady Bearcats had an awesome performance last night annihilating the competition.  Top-seeded Dexter defeated eighth seeded Roosevelt Lady Roughriders in the first round of the Farmington Invitational Girls Basketball Tournament by a score of 90 – 21.  Way to go Bearcats!!

Dexter scored 53 points in the first half to lead the game.  Paige Patterson, Dexter’s tallest player at 6’1” scored a team-high 16 points. 

MaKayla Waldner tallied 13 points and a team-high nine steals. 

Hannah Noe, 5’9” senior guard calculated 10 points and along with Waldner who tied with team-high seven assists. 

Erika Cobb, 5’9” senior added 12 points and six assists.

Alison Jarrell, 5’10” senior guard hit three of the Lady ‘Cats four treys scoring 11 points.   MaKayla Waldner hit the only other Bearcats’ 3-pointer.

Sydney Rogers, a 5’4” freshman/JV guard scored 9 points for Dexter shooting 4 for 4 and an additional one pointer from the charity stripe.

Dakota Reynolds, the 5’5” sophomore guard scored seven points making 5 of her 6 free throws.

Melanie McKuin, 5’9” sophomore forward tallied eight points for Dexter along with Cheyenne Mosby, a freshman forward who scored four points coming into the game during the fourth quarter.

The Lady ‘Cats will be practicing hard all week as they will be back in action on Friday night when they take on Farmington in the championship semifinal.  Game time is 6:00 p.m.

Dexter, Missouri – The DHS Boys Basketball Team opens their season on Tuesday, December 3^rd against the Bluejays in Charleston under Head Coach Rob Nichols and Asst. Coach Shawn Guethle.  Game time is 6:00 p.m.

D.J. Dowdy and Nick Noble are the only two returning starters for the Bearcats who played most of last season without injuries.  Several of the basketball players sustained injuries during football season or during basketball season and were unable to play all year.  Hopefully this year the injury bug will not bite the Bearcats and they will have a great season!

Dowdy #11, a 5’10” senior guard should have a great season ahead.  He did well as a junior and just earned an All-Conference spot in football.  Noble #4 who is also 5’10” and plays the position of guard will be joined by 5’10” senior guard Myles Urhahn #10 and 5’11 senior guard Cody Neldon #34.

Also playing for the Bearcats will be #3 Blake Horton, 5’10” junior guard, #24 Ethan Flowers, 5’8” junior guard, #32 Chandler Young, 6’1” sophomore forward, #22 Austin Chesser 5’10” sophomore guard, #5 Noah Kronk, 6’ junior forward, #12 Peyton Pollock, 6’1” junior forward/guard, #21 Jacob Pedigo, 5’10” sophomore guard, and #33 Cole Renken, 6’3” sophomore forward.

The Bearcats will be competing against some of the top teams in the SCAA Conference and playing several SEMO Conference teams before hosting the SCAA Tournament in January.

Dexter will host their first home game on Friday, December 5^th at 6:00 p.m. against the Sikeston Bulldogs with the JV playing first followed by the varsity.    Please come out and cheer for your favorite Bearcat and support these awesome boys as they play hard and fast on the court!

St. Louis, Missouri – The Dexter Lady ‘Cats traveled to St. Joseph’s Academy in St. Louis on Saturday and defeated the Angels 62 – 53.  It was a nail biter of a first quarter ending with a 12 – 12 tie, but the Angels jumped to a half-time lead scoring 23 points in the 2^nd quarter.

The Angels are ranked #3 in the pre-season Class 5 state rankings led the Bearcats 35 – 22 at halftime.  Dexter is ranked #2 in the Class 4 state rankings rocked the house in the 3^rd quarter shooting well, scoring 18 points and eliminating all but two of their turnovers.  The Bearcats finally took the lead 48-47 with just under 6 minutes remaining in the 4^th quarter.

There was no stopping the girls and they wanted this victory!  Alison Jarrell #12 led the Dexter in scoring with 17 points including five 3-pointers.  Paige Patterson #22 tallied 15 points including 7 free throws.  Hannah Noe #10 tallied 12 points including one 3-pointer. MaKayla Waldner #30 and Ericka Cobb #15 each recorded 8 points for the Bearcats. 

The Lady ‘Cats will be back in action Monday, December 2^nd playing in the eight team Farmington Invitation Varsity Basketball Tournament.  Dexter is the top seed and will begin play with the eighth seeded Roosevelt High School at 6:00 p.m.   #4 Farmington will play #5 Jackson at 7:30 p.m.

The winners of those two games will play on Friday, December 6^th at 6:00 p.m.    The Championship game will be Saturday, December 7^th at 6:30 p.m.  Go Bearcats!

Dexter, Missouri - The JV Lady 'Cats are ready for another exciting year.  Experienced players returning are Ashlyn Werneck and Karaline Keirsey who are the only sophomores.

They will travel with the varsity team to St. Joseph's Academy in St. Louis on Saturday, November 30th to compete against the Angels.

Seven freshman will be on the team.  Guards are Cidney Gathings 5'6", Emily Mouser 5'5", Sydney Rogers 5'4" and Olivia Sitzes 5'2".  Forwards are Hayley Hare 5'5", Cheyenne Mosby 5'4" and Harley Allen 5'9".   Ashlyn Werneck will be playing as center for the JV Bearcats.

Game time is 1:30 p.m.
