The Dexter Parks and Recreation Little League baseball season rolls on, despite threatening weather during the last two nights of contests.

During both Thursday and Monday's matchups, coaches and parents hoped to squeeze the games in before cloudy skies turned to rain, and luckily all games were able to be played on both nights.

With temperatures expected to be in the 80's and slim chances of rain for the rest of the week, tonight (Tuesday, June 5) and Thursday's (June 7) full schedule should go off without a hitch from Mother Nature.

CAPE GIRARDEAU - All-American senior third baseman Trenton Moses was putting all his skills to the test this season. The Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks were 23-36 and a little help came from Moses.

Trenton is the son of Bob and Lisa Moses of Advance, Mo. Moses graduated in 2007 from Advance High School, where he was top ten in his class.

Moses earned All-State, All-Conference, and All-Southeast Missourian for three years as an infielder and pitcher for the Advance Hornets; he notched a 1.87 ERA with 47 strikeouts and only five walks in 30 innings on the mound in 2006.

He batted .549 with seven doubles, 17 RBIs, and 16 runs scored, including one home home run. Moses never struck out in 63 plate appearances as a junior.

Trenton wasn’t just the baseball star that he is today; he was also a force for the Hornets on the basketball court, where he earned All-Conference and All-Region honors. He also helped the team go to the Show-Me Showdown in 2006.

During his baseball career at SEMO, Moses won the OVC Player of the Year award in 2011 and 2012. He is the third OVC Player to win multiple Player of the Year awards. He is also a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, which is presented to the nation’s best amateur baseball player. There are thirty others competing.

The Advance native leads NCAA Division 1 baseball in slugging (.802) and on-base percentage (.549). He ranks third in home runs (19) and total bases (158). He is fifth in batting average (.426) and leads the OVC in runs (58), second in RBIs (59), walks (50), and being hit by pitch (17).

Moses was one RBI short of winning the first OVC Triple Crown - leading the league in batting average, home runs, and RBIs - since 1982.

Moses has high chances of being selected in the MLB Draft before we know it - good luck Trent!
