In Memory of Kay Sanders

Kay Sanders, daughter of the late Calvin Ratliff and Dorothy Camp Ratliff, was born on December 24, 1946, in Kennett, Missouri, and departed this life on January 28, 2025, at her residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 78 years.


Mrs. Sanders was a former Director of Cash Management for Systems Services, Inc, and she was a member of First Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri. Some of her favorite things were decorating her house outside for the holidays, especially Christmas, drinking a diet coke from McDonalds, shopping and watching movies. She loved getting her fingernails and toenails done by Janey and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


On May 23, 1965, in Piggott, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Charles Larry West Sanders. Mr. Sanders preceded her in death on February 5, 2021.


She is survived by her son, Larry Sanders of Dexter, Missouri; by her daughter, Kristin Sanders of Essex, Missouri; by her brother, Calvin Rattliff III of Williamsville, Missouri; by two grandchildren, Kenton Sanders and wife Alegra, and Abbey Ellis and husband Jaycob; and by three great-grandchildren, Kleo Sanders, Koa Sanders, and Grayson Ellis.


Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Michael Ratliff.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti.

Wanda Meloy-Toma, was born on February 2, 1929, and departed this life on January 25, 2025, at Memory Lane in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 95 years.


Mrs. Meloy-Toma attended Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and traveling.


On January 1, 1970, in Corning, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to John Raymond Meloy. Mr. Meloy preceded her in death on July 5, 1992.


Graveside services will be held at Hagy Cemetery in Dexter on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

In Memory of Sandra Jane Smith Lindemann

Sandra Jane Smith Lindemann, daughter of the late Freddie Joe Smith and Mattie Jane Johnson Smith, was born on November 21,1957 in Southaven, Michigan, and departed this life on January 25, 2025, at her residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 67 years.


Ms. Lindemann had worked for St. John’s Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri in medical billing and labor and delivery and she also worked for Fauercia in Dexter, Missouri for several years. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to Airways Café in Dexter and loved spending time with them.


She is survived by two sons, Joseph “JoJo” Womble and wife Angel of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Bruce Womble and wife Melissa of Lawrence, Kansas; by her partner in life, Martin Ward; by two brothers, Ronnie Smith and wife Frieda of Dexter, Missouri, and Larry Smith and wife Bobbie of Scopus, Missouri; by her sister, Trudy Smith of Dexter, Missouri; and by six grandchildren, Abigail, Lance, Luis, Tristan (Olivia), Jackson, and Autumn.


Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael “E.J.” Smith.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor James Tipton officiating. Interment will follow in Hagy Cemetery.

In Memory of Peggy Marie McEnerney

Peggy Marie McEnerney, daughter of the late Charley Kerley and Rudie Marie Dodd Kerley, was born on June 18, 1940, in Parma, Missouri, and departed this life on January 24, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Stoddard in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 84 years.


Mrs. McEnerney was a member of Liberty Hill Church in Aid and a resident of Bloomfield. She enjoyed crafts, gardening and was an avid canner, and she loved turtles, animals and spending time with her family.


On November 22, 1980, at Hopewell Baptist Church in Essex, Missouri, she was united in marriage to George McEnerney. Mr. McEnerney survives of their home in Bloomfield.


Along with her husband, she is survived by her sister, Debbie Marie Harvey of Adams, Wisconsin; and by fifteen nieces and nephews.


Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth Ragle, Charles V. Kerley, Charles L. Kerley, and Cecil “Jr.” Kerley; and by her sister, Alberta Marie Shelton.


Memorials may be made to the Stoddard County Children’s Home, PO Box 164, Dexter MO 63841.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

In Memory of Emma Jean Jordan

Emma Jean Jordan, daughter of the late Lester McCulley and Gladys Partin McCulley, was born on July 25, 1950, in Pyletown, Missouri, and departed this life on January 23, 2025, at her residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 74 years.


Mrs. Jordan was a former employee of Elder Manufacturing and Paramount Hat Company. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Dexter. She enjoyed working puzzles and word searches and she loved her family.


She was first united in marriage to Gerald McWilliams and to this union one son was born, Mike McWilliams. She was then united in marriage to Allen Ray Martin on November 4, 1971, in Dexter, Missouri. Mr. Martin preceded her in death on January 15, 1993.


She is survived by two sons, Mike McWilliams of Dexter, Missouri and Keith Martin and wife (Kerry) of Dexter, Missouri; and by eight grandchildren.


Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Toney McCulley; and by her sister, Janice McCulley Clary.


No services are planned.
