James Walter Berry Jr. the son of the late James Walter Berry Sr. and Thelma Gwendolyn McKenzie Berry, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on April 24, 1941 and departed this life at his residence in Bernie, Missouri on September 29, 2024 at the age of 83.
Mr. Berry was a Veteran of The United States Air Force. He later worked at Federal Mogul, having retired after 37 years. He was a member of Bernie Christian Church and a resident of Bernie.
He first was united in marriage to Carol Rae Sarratt in 1961. Mrs. Berry preceded her husband in death in 1997. He later married Karen Lee McCarver on December 5, 2004 in Malden, Missouri. Mrs. Berry survives of their home in Bernie.
Survivors include, his wife, Karen Lee Berry of Bernie, Mo.; by three sons, James Walter Berry Jr. & wife Carol of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Richard Berry & wife Rona of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Scott Berry & wife Sara of Maui, Hawaii; by two daughters, Christy White & husband Doug of Steele, Missouri and Misty Ruble & Matt of Farmington, Missouri; by one step-daughter, Leigh Ann Hancock & husband Ben of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; by 14 grandchildren, Cristyl, Jimmy, Kerrie, Camille, Billie Grace, Jameson, Gideon, Melissa, Elizabeth, Brandon, Blane, Carleigh, Brycen and Bryleigh; by three great-grandchildren; also by his Aunt, Billie Womack of Dexter, Missouri; by his cousin, Debbie & Danny Stoker of Dexter, Missouri; by one brother-in-law, Jack Sarratt & wife Rhonda of Dexter, Missouri; by Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law Sandy & Bill Absher of Marion, Illinois.

Barbara “Barbie” Lynn Davis, age 54, of Puxico, MO, died Saturday, September 28, 2024 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Mrs. Davis was born August 13, 1970 in Dexter, MO, daughter of the late Garry and Minne Carolyn Rainwater (neé Stanfield).
She was a teacher for over 30 years. Most of her teaching career was at Puxico Schools, and she also taught for a year and a half at Poplar Bluff. She also coached cheerleading and volleyball and was very involved with the basketball program. Barbie truly cared about her students and took on a role of “school mom” to them.
She was a dedicated wife and a loving mother. On June 1, 1991, she married Jeffrey Davis. He survives. Also surviving are two children: Corey Davis of Puxico, MO and Jonathon Garrett Davis of Dexter, MO; one sister: Michelle (Phillip) Garner of Bell City, MO; two sisters-in-law: Janell Stewart and Jennifer (Oliver) McMeans both of Puxico, MO and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law: Chuck Stewart.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Puxico with Pastor Will Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, MO. James Grover McCoy born March 19, 1929, passed away on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 at his home in St Louis, Missouri at age 95.
James was the devoted husband of Billie Jean McCoy (Heigle) who he joined in marriage on June 26, 1953; loving father of his children: son James “Greg” (Lee Ann) McCoy who preceded him in death, daughter Kim (Kevin) Donica, and son Jaime (Brandy) McCoy. James was an adoring grandfather to: Teresa (Jesse) Cook, Becky (Kyle) Noble, Gregory (Jacqueline) McCoy, Kirsten (Jon) Poe, Evan (Hillary) Donica, Aaron (Katie) Donica, Kassie (Keegan) Crotchett, and Sarah McCoy. He was a cherished great grandfather of Lucas Cook, Nyssa Cook, Logan Snider, Desiree Snider, Vincent Mccoy, Reese Watters, Ashar Poe, Ethan Poe, Olivia Poe, Zane Poe, Eloise Donica, Juniper Donica, and Orlando Donica. James was one of twelve siblings in the extended McCoy family and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
James was a veteran who served his country in the US Navy post-World War 2 and Korean War. He was an educator in the Puxico School District for 30 years welcoming students to the “Home of Happiness” everyday. He was a farmer, good neighbor, and caring friend who always looked to help where and how he could. He loved to visit with family, play cards and dominos, and stay current in history and current events.
A celebration of James’s life will be held at 11 am on October 18, 2024 at the Church of Christ in Dexter, Missouri (1014 N 1 Mile Rd, Dexter, MO 63841). Lunch afterwards at the onsite fellowship hall. Military honors burial at Stars and Stripes cemetery at Bloomfield, MO at 3 pm.
A scholarship fund is currently being established and will be coming soon for future educators in memory of James McCoy.
Gerland Moore, born on September 5, 1943, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024. A beloved member of the community, Gerland's life was characterized by his unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and the values deeply cherished.
Throughout his years, Gerland cultivated rich relationships and was known for his kindness, warmth, and supportive. He embodied the spirit of generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to those in need. His dedication to fostering connections made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Family and friends will gather to honor Gerland’s memory and pay their respects during a visitation on September 26, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Watkins Funeral Homes - Puxico, located at 301 N Hickman St, Puxico, MO 63960. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the same location, beginning at 12:00 PM and concluding at 1:00 PM.

Ronald Dean Roper, son of Bonnie Bloyce Roper and Mary Susan Sue Roper of Swinton, Missouri, was born December 14, 1947, in Advance, Missouri and departed this life on September 23, 2024, at his residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 76.
On May 5, 1967, in Advance, Missouri he was united in marriage to Peggy Louise Lacy. Mrs. Roper survives at their home in Dexter. This loving union lasted for over 57 years. Along with his wife, he is survived by one son, Brett Dean Roper and wife Tammy of Dexter and daughter, Brandi Roper Tatum of Bloomfield, Missouri by three wonderful granddaughters, Nicole Roper, Kaley Roper and Ellie Tatum. He is also survived by two brothers Larry Roper and Eddie Roper and two sisters, Barbara Phillips and Patricia Stoker and his large family of nieces, nephews, as well as friends.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Rick Roper.
Ron was a well-known Residential Contractor and Business Owner. His work ethic was unparalleled. Ron was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed working, hunting, boating and most of all spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and family. Ron along with Peggy held a strong passion for family. This was instilled into his children and grandchildren. The love Peggy and Ron had for each other and their family was beyond obvious. It exudes from the entire family. Ron was a special man and left a legacy that can not be matched. God just dont makeem all like that.

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield at 11:00 a.m.
