In Memory of Charles Wayne LaRue

Charles Wayne LaRue, son of the late Glenn Lester Perry LaRue and Margaret Louise (Foushee) LaRue, was born on August 19, 1942, in Bernie and departed this life on June 14, 2023, in Dexter, at the age of 80 years.

Mr. LaRue was a 1961 graduate of Bernie High School and later graduated with a degree in Animal Science from the University of Missouri. He was a long-time employee of Louis Rich/Oscar Mayer in South Carolina, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Missouri before working at Farbest Foods in Huntingburg, Indiana.

He is survived by three sons, Brian Eric LaRue and his wife Lisa M. LaRue of Prosperity, SC, Mark Andrew LaRue and his wife Masja LaRue of Troy, IL, and John David LaRue and his wife Katina Marie Nordloh of Derwood, MD; by two sisters, Margaret LaRue of Eldorado, IL, and Jan Hurd and her husband Gary Hurd of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren, Kathryn Taylor LaRue, Rachel Elizabeth LaRue and her husband Zack Flathmann, Jacob Horton LaRue, and Jason Daniel LaRue; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carol Sue (Horton) LaRue, and one brother, Stan Alain LaRue.

A devoted husband, Mr. LaRue was also a proud father and grandfather. As an active outdoorsman he loved deer and turkey hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, canoeing, mushroom hunting and bird watching and feeding. After returning to Dexter in 2021, he regularly attended church at both First United Methodist Church in Dexter and Bernie United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong Mizzou and St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed conversing with everyone he met.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Larry Lawman officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Stoddard County Children’s Home or the Sikeston Convalescent Center.

In Memory of Shelby Renee Campbell

Shelby Renee Campbell of Bloomfield, Missouri,  was born June 6, 1994, in Little Rock, Arkansas, and passed from this life on June 13, 2023, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 29.


Shelby has lived in the Bloomfield area for the last nine years after moving here as an early teen from Colorado. She was of the Christian Faith.


Shelby had many interests in her life like seeing the country, listening to music, painting, going to the casino, but mainly loved spending time with her family.


She is survived by her mother, Alecha (Tony) Hill of Bloomfield, Missouri; Her father, Edward (Kristina) Campbell of Kiowa, Colorado; two sons, Carson Campbell of Bloomfield; Xavier Hinkley of Spring Creek, Nevada; one daughter, Makenzee Howard of Bloomfield, Missouri; three brothers, Justin Zink of Paragould, Arkansas; Braydon of Kiowa, Colorado; Cory Ward of Tennesse; two sisters, Brittiney Hinkley of Spring Creek, Nevada and Megan Crawley of Little Rock, Arkansas  as well as  a host of family and friends.


Visitation service will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2023, with service to follow at the Watkins And Sons Funeral Chapel in Puxico, Missouri, with Pastor Charles Robertson of Bloomfield officiating. 
 

Interment will follow at the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.

In memory of Hilda Ellen Green

Hilda Ellen Green, daughter of the late Arther James Dockree and Constance May Gillett Dockree, was born on August 8, 1921, in London, England, and departed this life on June 14, 2023, at her residence in Puxico, Missouri, at the age of 101 years.

Mrs. Green was a homemaker. She enjoyed baking, sewing, and knitting; she loved knitting gloves to give to foster children.

On May 5, 1944, in Barnstable, England, she was united in marriage to Ernest Vern Green. Mr. Green preceded her in death on December 28, 2004.

She is survived by two sons, David Green and wife Rita of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Glenn Green and wife Clara of Puxico, Missouri; by her daughter, Kathleen Green of Puxico, Missouri; by her sister, Betty Enfield of England; and by five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Arther Dockree, and Edmond Dockree; by two sisters, Constance Hornett, and Kathleen Martin; and by one great-grandchild, Elliott Sisson.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, June 18, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Scottie Smothers officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in rural Puxico.

Memorials may be made to the Stoddard County Children’s Home, PO Box 164, Dexter, Missouri 63841.

In Memory of Judith Suzanne Heaton

Judith Suzanne Heaton, daughter of the late JT Smith and Helen Johnson Weeks, was born on September 24, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and departed this life on June 13, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 75 years.

Mrs. Heaton was a former secretary for WW Wood Products in Dudley, Missouri and she was a resident of Bloomfield, Missouri. She was a very good cook.

On June 11, 1966, in East Prairie, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Harold Heaton. Mr. Heaton preceded her in death on March 29, 2015.

She is survived by three sons, Brad Heaton, Todd Heaton and Larry Heaton, all of Bloomfield, Missouri; by her daughter, Monica Heaton of Dexter, Missouri, by her step-daughter, Angela Myers of Barstow, California; by four grandchildren, Alan Heaton, Michael Hollifield, Brannon Heaton, and Lynden Heaton; and by one great-grandchild.

Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Smith and Donnie Smith.

No services are planned.

Doris Louise Fox, daughter of the late Marvin Lacy and Fern Swinger Gaines, was born on August 1, 1940, in Frisco, Missouri, and departed this life on June 12, 2023, at Winchester Nursing in Bernie, Missouri, at the age of 82 years.

Mrs. Fox was a former supervisor for Duchossois Industries. She was a member of Southwest Church of the Nazarene in Dexter, Missouri, and a resident of Dexter. She was also a volunteer for the DAV.

On November 28, 1958, in Clines Island, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Larry Fox.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Fox of Bernie, Missouri; by her daughter, Deborah Nelson and husband Terry of South Elgin, Illinois; and by two grandchildren, Ashley Nelson, and Joshua Nelson.

Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Seeger.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
