Sylvia La'Reese Herrion-Borden, daughter of Edna Wynn-Sims and Sylvester Herrion, was born in Dexter, Missouri on June 16, 1971, and passed away at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on January 22, 2016, at the age of 44 years, 7 months and 6 days.
Mrs. Borden had lived most of her life in Sikeston. She had worked as a C.N.A. at Golden Living Center in Sikeston and attended New Direction Outreach Ministry in Sikeston.
On July 20, 2002, she married Michael Borden in Sikeston, Missouri.
Surviving are her husband, Michael Borden of Sikeston; two daughters, Aundrea Nicole Thompson and Chasman Herrion both of Sikeston; one son, Gregory Paul Herrion of Sikeston; three grandchildren, Kamiyah Herrion, Mekhi Bryant and Greyson Herrion; two brothers & spouse, Samuel Sims, Jr, of Homestown, Missouri, Jay & Camella Sims of Arizona; seven sisters & husbands, Priscilla Herrion and Kenyunta Herrion both of Sikeston, Yavonda & Samuel Pulley of Malden, Elizabeth Herrion of Springfield, Pat & Soloman Robinson of Yazoo City, Mississippi, Samantha & Kevin Mitchell of St. Louis, Lela Sims of Hayti; two special friends, Gloria Moore and Josh Kelton. Other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the New Direction Out Reach Ministries in Sikeston, Missouri with Dr. Lamonte Calvin of Sikeston, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sunset of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri. Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.

Jerry Dean Layton of Dexter, son of the late William Burton and Elsie Tuttle Layton, was born in Essex, Missouri on September 14, 1936, and passed away at his home in Dexter on January 24, 2016, at the age of 79 years 4 months, and 10 days.
Jerry had lived in Arnold, Missouri until moving to Dexter in 1990. He had attended the New Bethel General Baptist Church in Dexter. He had been a truck driver before he retired had served in the Missouri National Guard for many years.
On June 15, 1985, he was married to Juanita Hubbard.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita Layton of Dexter; one son & wife, Brad & Kris Layton of Imperial, Missouri; one daughter & husband, Dena & Brian Mentel of St. Louis, Missouri; two step-daughters & husbands, Janet & David Cox of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Kelly & Jerry Hill of Laquey, Missouri; two grandchildren, Josh Layton & Delana Mentel; two step grandchildren & spouses, Stacy & Chris Simmering, Jodie & Jim Lacy; six step great grandchildren; Devin, Macie, Jordyn and Zach Simmering, Bo and Riley Lacy; one sister in law, Pansy Layton of Dexter. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Harold & Fred Layton; and two sisters, Marguerite Burke and Frances Russell.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the New Bethel General Baptist Church on State Highway AF in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. Dean Williams of Dexter officiating.
Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
Johnnie Albert Smith of Bloomfield, son of the late Hiram W. and Marie Lee Johnson Smith, was born in Randles, Missouri on October 18, 1932, and passed away at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on January 26, 2016, at the age of 83 years 3 months, and 8 days.
Johnnie had lived in the Bloomfield area mosst of his life. He was a member of the Missouri Street Full Gospel Church in Bloomfield. He was retired from McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis where he had worked in machine maintenace and repair. Johnny had served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
On July 3, 1953, he was married to Patricia Sue Becraft in Holly Springs, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on December 25, 2014.
Surviving are one son, Johnnie Michael Smith of Waxhall, North Carolina; two daughters, Debra Daniels of Bell City, Sandra Presley of Dexter; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Edward Smith of Arkansas; three sisters, Ellen Lowe of Bloomfield, Ester Cook of Jackson, and Margaret Mier of Dexter. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Albert Smith, one daughter, Tammy Lee Smith, and one brother, James C. Smith.
