Lorene Kennett

Lorene Kennett, daughter of the late Charles Phillips and Lissie Cox Phillips was born on November 8, 1930 in Bloomfield, Missouri and departed this life at the Close To Home Nursing in Matthews, Missouri on October 18, 2013 at the age of 82.

Mrs. Kennett was a member of the Risen Church in Dexter, Gardening Club, P.E.O. in Hardin, Missouri, and a resident of Dexter.

On September 25, 1949 she was united in marriage to William Nathan Kennett in Piggott, Arkansas.  Mr. Kennett preceded her in death on January 7, 2004.

Survivors include one son, Randal Kennett of Hardin, Missouri; by two daughters, Phyllis Christensen of Naples, Florida and Norma Inafuku of Houston, Texas; by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; by a longtime companion, Delmar Lane of Dexter; by two brothers, Charles Phillips of Bloomfield and Dean Phillips of Rural Bloomfield, Missouri; one sister, Novella Kingree of Dexter; one sister-in-law, Betty Phillips; and by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Byron Phillips and Orin Phillips.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday, October 20, 2013.  

Funeral services will then be conducted on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Joshua Carpenter officiating.  

Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.     

Memorials may be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, Missouri 63123-3253.  Envelopes will be provided at the Funeral Home for memorials.

Donna Henderson
Donna Henderson, daughter of the late George David and Georgianna Mae Bafen Hott, was born in Mowequa, Illinois on August 27, 1949, and passed away at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Loius, Missouri on October 9, 2013, at the age of 64 years, 1 month and 12 days.

She had lived in Miami, Florida and Decatur, Illinois before moving to Dexter in 1992. She had worked as a house keeper and attended the Church of Christ.

On June 13, 1969, she was married to Forest Henderson, Jr in Decatur, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1995.

Surviving are her companion, Leon Rackley of Dexter; one son, Kenneth Henderson of Ironton, Missouri; three daughters, Doris Melvin and Janice Lewis both of Dexter, Missouri, Georgianna Hillman of Puxico, Missouri; many grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce Stanley of Decatur, Illinois, Janet Halsey of Fairbury, Illinois and Doris Strickland of Dexter. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Henderson, and one brother, George Hott.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri.

Interment will be at a later date in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

James R. Bolin Sr.

James R. Bolin Sr., son of the late Gracie Lucas, was born in Hornersville, Missouri on July 31, 1936, and passed away at is home in Puxico, Missouri on October 14, 2013, at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 20 days.

He had lived in the Puxico area all of is life. He enjoyed fishing.

He was married to Shirley O'Neal on August 9, 1970. She preceded him in death on September 1, 1995.

Surviving are his stepfather, Ernest Jackson of Dudley, Missouri; three sons, James Bolin, Jr., Jimmy Bolin and Leroy Parker, all of Puxico, Missouri; two daughters, Anita Parker of Dexter, Missouri, and Tina Bolin of Alton Missouri, eight grandchildren; seven great greatchilden; and one brother, Ernie Jackson of Louisiana. Other family and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Jesse Bolin, and 1 sister-in-lawm, Mary Bolin.

Visitation will be held on Thursday October 17, 2013 after 12:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 17, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. James Hagy of Dexter, Missouri officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rock Hill Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.

Chet Medler

Chester “Chet” Medler, son of the late Raymond Medler and Mayme Lucas Medler was born on August 22, 1921 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on October 9, 2013 at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 92 years.

Mr. Medler retired in 1986 as co-owner of Medler-Davis Chevrolet in Dexter.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving during World War II and a resident of Dexter.  He was also a former member of the Dexter School Board, Dexter Veterans of Foreign Wars, Dexter Kiwanis, and Past President of Dexter Chamber of Commerce.    

Chet was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Aslin on October 26, 1946 in Piggott, Arkansas.  Mrs. Medler preceded him in death on July 13, 2006.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Snider and husband Mark of Dexter; and Dr. Paula Medler of Tucson, Arizona; by two grandchildren, Sarah Snider Heise of Jackson, Missouri and Christopher Snider of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; by three great-grandchildren, Aislyn Elizabeth Heise of Jackson, Missouri, Michael Price Snider and Matthew Lee Snider both of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; one brother, Glen Medler of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and by one sister, Mildred Wheeler of Dexter.         

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy Medler, Everett Medler, and R.C. Medler; also by one sister, Edith Medler.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, October 13, 2013.

Funeral services will then be conducted on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Pastor Barry Winders officiating.

Interment will follow at the Liberty Cemetery near Bloomfield, Missouri with full Military Honors.

Jenny Palmer

Beulah (Jenny) Palmer, daughter of the late Julius F. Cook and Lola M. Jackson was born on March 20, 1920 in England, Arkansas and departed this life at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter on October 8, 2013 at the age of 93.

Mrs. Palmer was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene in Dexter; she was baptized and accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 16.  She was an employee of Elder Manufacturing for 39 years and retired in 1982.  Jenny enjoyed fishing, working puzzles and attending church when she was able.

She was united in marriage to Dwight R. Palmer in Dexter, Missouri on February 23, 1947.  Mr. Palmer preceded her in death on March 19, 2001.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Cook and James Cook; also by one sister, Ruby Cook Ross.

Survivors include several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 12, 2013.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Roger Wooten officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
