Rachel Smith

Rachel Smith, daughter of the late William Jacob and Mary Anna Fortner Williamson, was born in Clines Island, Missouri on August 4, 1918, and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri on March 23, 2013, at the age of 94 years, 7 months and 19 days.

She had lived in Dexter, Missouri since 1933. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter. She loved to garden, crochet, and quilt.

On August 5, 1939, she was married to Rev.Chester C. Smith. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2006.

Surviving are two sons, Chester J. Smith of Rockville, Virginia, Jimmie D. Smith of Dexter, Missouri; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one brother, one sister, Jean DeJournett of Essex, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Smith in December, 2003, five brothers, Marion, Bob, Parvin, Marvin and Bill Williamson and two sister, Lorene Barker and Ruth Fulkerson.

Friends may call after 1:00 PM on day, March 25, 2013, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 25 , 2013, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter, Missouri officiating.

Interment will follow in the Triplett Cemetery near Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Irene Boshears

Irene Boshears, daughter of the late Edd and Sarah Velma Frost Brewer, was born in Waynesboro, Tennessee on September 24, 1930, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on March 21, 2013, at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 25 days.

She had grown up in Waynesboro, Tennessee, lived many years in Morehouse and was a resident of Cape Girardeau at this time. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Morehouse, Missouri and had worked as a teachers aid for the Sikeston School District.

Surviving are two daughters, Bettie Dodson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Billie Crofford of Irvington, Illinois; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; one sister, Myrtle Carrington of Morehouse, Missouri. Other family and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Troy Wayne Boshears.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013, after 10:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. Randy Conn officiating.

Interment will follow in the Triplett Cemetery near Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Norman Matthew Ludwig

Norman Matthew Ludwig, son of the late Elmer C. and Maudie Schrader Ludwig, was born in Risco, Missouri on July 5, 1942, and passed away at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on March 19, 2013, at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 14 days.

Mr. Ludwig had lived all of his life in Risco and Parma. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Malden. He had retired from Noranda Aluminum.

On , April 5, 1963, he was married to Marilyn Jeanette Rowland in Parma, Missouri.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn J. Ludwig of Parma, Missouri, two sons Michael Todd and Susan Ludwig of Parma, Missouri and Shaun and Heather Ludwig of Risco, Missouri; six grandchildren, Crystal Earnheart, Shanna Moody, Morgan Ludwig, Sierrea Ludwig, Hayden Ludwig, Adam Ludwig; two great-grandchildren, Eli Earnheart & Macey Moody; two brothers, Bob Ludwig of St. Louis, Missouri and Arlin Ludwig of Farmington, Missouri; three sisters, Thelma Niehaus of Dexter, Missouri, Norma Macon of Flouilla, Georgia, Georgianna Noubarian of St. Louis, Missouri. Other family and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Timothy A. Ludwig, three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013, at 2:00 PM in the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Parma, Missouri.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Parma in charge of arrangements.

Judy Marie Whaley Franklin of Bloomfield, Missouri, was born on September 7, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas to the late Joy Winston Whaley and Sylvia Sutton Whaley and passed away on March 19, 2013, at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 62.

Mrs. Franklin was united in marriage on October 29, 1971, to Robert W. Franklin, Jr. in Dexter, Missouri. 

Mrs. Franklin was a longtime resident of Bloomfield, Missouri and is survived by her husband, Robert.  Mrs. Franklin is also survived by one daughter, Kimberley Hunsaker, of Dexter, Missouri; by one son, Aaron Condray, of Dudley, Missouri; by two sisters, Euleen Richey of Dexter, Missouri and Joy Ann Tate of Campbell, Missouri; by one brother, Jerry Whaley of Piggott, Arkansas; by two granddaughters, Amanda Hunsaker and Cassandra Ellis, both of Dexter, Missouri; by one grandson, Brian Crowe of Dexter, Missouri; and by four great-grandchildren, Blair, Owen, Layla and Emma, all of Dexter, Missouri.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Chandra Condray; and two brothers, Max Whaley and and Donald Whaley.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on March 21, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on March 22, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ron Dunavin officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Lucille White, daughter of the late William Campbell Starr and Clara Rebecca McCarroll Starr, was born on April 16, 1913, in Shurm, Arkansas, and passed away on March 19, 2013, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 99.

Mrs. White was a homemaker and a loving mother.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter and had been very active in the Marston Methodist Church, the Marston Senior Citizens Center and various civic organizations in Marston.  She was a resident of Dexter formerly of Marston.

She was united in marriage to William Eugene White on October 29, 1932, in Powhatan, Arkansas, and they resided in Marston for many years.  Mr. White preceded her in death on March 4, 1975.

She is survived by one son, William Thomas White, and his wife, Cindy, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; one daughter, Mary Ruth Boone, and her husband, Bill, of Dexter, Missouri; and by four grandchildren, Lauren White, Thomas White, Andrew Boone and Afton Boone.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by one son, William Edward White; by one daughter, Edna Kathryn White; by four brothers, Claude Starr, Elmo Starr, John Starr and Millard Starr; and by one sister, Virginia Rickman.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, March 24, 2013, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, March 24, 2013, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Howard Kirby officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery at New Madrid, Missouri.
