Shirley Myers Lee

 Shirley Myers Lee, daughter of the late Gay Maurice Myers and Lois Norman Myers was born in Essex, Missouri on September 8, 1935 and departed this life at her home in Bernie, Missouri on September 24, 2012 at the age of 77.

 Mrs. Lee was a retired school teacher, having worked many years in the Bernie Elementary School teaching third grade.  She was a member of the Broadway Brethren Church of Essex, Missouri and attended The Bernie United Methodist Church.  She loved Science and had studied Rocks and Minerals and had compiled so much information that she had shared her teachings with several Schools over Southeast Missouri region.

 She was united in marriage to Donald Howard Lee in Essex, Missouri on October 18, 1968.

 Survivors include, her husband, Donald Howard Lee of Bernie, Missouri; one brother, Dale Myers of Kansas City, Missouri; and one sister, Norma Boothe of Melbourne, Arkansas; also by other relatives and many friends.

 Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 10:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.  Memorial services will begin at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dave Fowler officiating.

 In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Dexter Nutrition Center at 23 West Stoddard Street, Dexter, Missouri 63841.

George Cates
George Cates, the son of the late Floyd and Ellen Johnson, was born in Pearland, Texas on March 3, 1920, and passed away at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on September 20, 2012, at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 17 days.
Mr. Cates had lived in the Dudley, Missouri area since 1951. He was a charter member of the Dudley Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and was the Song Leader. He served on the boards of both the Stoddard County Gospel Mission and the Oaks Center in Dexter. He also served on the Executive Board of the Cane Creek-Stoddard Baptist Association and also served as treasurer, and he served on the Camp Board with the South Missouri Baptist Assembly. He and his wife started the Cates Orchard near Dudley in 1953. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving in WWII, and served in the U. S. Navy Reserves.
On November 5, 1943, he was married to Helen Louise Benes in Pearland, Texas. She preceded him in death on August 16, 2006.
Surviving are one son, Ronnie Cates of Puxico, Missouri; three daughters and spouses, Patti and Asa Kinnaman of Bloomfield, Missouri, Bessie McRoy and Janet and Kevin Johns all of Dudley, Missouri; five grandchildren, David Kinnaman, Jerry Kinnaman, Jennifer & Jarod Koenig, Caleb Johns and Emily Johns; one great grandson, Benjamin Koenig; three sisters, Marie Clift and Ruby Jean Rice both of Wenatchee, Washington and Mary Culbertson of Dudley, Missouri; one brother, Sam McAnally of Dexter, Missouri. Other friends and relatives also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Cates; three brothers, Delbert, Wayne and John McAnally; and one sister, Della Gibson.
Friends may call on Sunday, September 23, 2012, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. John McFarlen of Broseley, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors. Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Donna G. Eaves
Donna G. Eaves, daughter of the late Orville Edward and Opal Gineeta England Eaves, was born in San Bernadino, California on August 30, 1952, and passed away at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri on September 22, 2012, at the age of 60 years and 23 days.
Ms. Eaves lived in the Scott County and Sikeston area most of her life.
Surviving are two brothers, Darrell Eaves of Sikeston, Missouri, Curtis Speer, Jr. of Arab, Missouri; one sister, Shirley Campbell of California; two nephews, Larry Eaves of Bloomfield, Missouri, Robert Eaves of Sikeston, Missouri; four great nieces and nephews, Alexis Eaves, R. J. Eaves, Lindsay Clark and Paige Clark. Other family and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 24, 2012, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. Dwight Hensley of Bloomfield, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

J.C. Larsen

J. C. Larsen, son of the late Everett Larsen and Geneva Coburn Larsen, was born on April 15, 1923, in Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life on September 18, 2012, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri.

Mr. Larsen was a retired farmer.  He was a member of the Liberty Hill Church for sixty-six years where he served as a deacon for sixty-four of those years.

On November 17, 1945, he was united in marriage to Jane Worley in Piggott, Arkansas. Mrs. Larsen survives of their home in Dexter.

Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Jackie Asberry and Becky Agey both of Dexter; by three grandchildren, Chris Asberry of Dexter, Jennifer Gray of Eureka, Missouri, and husband Brian Gray, granddaughter Autumn Turner of Piggott, Arkansas, and by seven great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Dees, and by one brother, Gene Larsen.


Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 5:00P.M. until 8:00P.M.  Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Phil Warren officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Antioch cemetery near Bloomfield.

Clorine Shipman

Clorine Shipman, daughter of the late Bill Williams and Lucy Livingston Williams was born on August 25, 1923 in Powe, Missouri and departed this life on September 17, 2012 in the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 89 years.

Mrs. Shipman was a housewife, affiliated with the Church of Christ, and a resident of Dexter.

On May 11, 1940 she was united in marriage to Willie Andrew Shipman in Dexter, Missouri.  Mr. Shipman preceded her in death on May 6, 2009.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert Lee Shipman, two brothers, Raymond Williams and James Williams; by one sister Marie Allstun; also by one granddaughter Darla Kay Shipman.

Survivors include one sister, Theoda Litzler of Stephens City, Virginia; by two grandsons, Bobby Shipman and wife Rhonda, Rick Shipman and wife Barb; by four great- grandchildren, Brent Shipman, Cody Shipman, Bud Shipman, and Gracie Shipman; also by one great-great-granddaughter, Reagan Wright.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 19, 2012.  Funeral services will then be conducted on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter.  Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
