Della Wooten

Della Wooten, daughter of the late T.B. Walker and Willie Mae Kelly Walker was born on November 2, 1943 at Wilson, Arkansas and departed this life in her residence near Essex, Missouri on April 24, 2012 at the age of 68.

Mrs. Wooten was a homemaker and resident of rural Essex.

She was united in marriage to Dale E. Wooten on December 31, 1959 at Hayti.  Mr. Wooten survives of the home near Essex.

Other survivors include one son and daughter in law, Delbert and Cindy Wooten of Malden; by two daughters, Eloise "Sue" Dauer and husband, Andrew of Labadie 

and Ella Dix of Dexter; by one brother, J.B. Walker of Boaz, Alabama; by one sister, Nancy Stratton of Boaz, Alabama; by nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Kelvin Edward Wooten; by three sisters, Onie Lou Petty, Margie Jo Wooten and Dorothy Ann Pate.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter with the Rev. Tim Russell officiating.

Vane L. Lindsay

Vane L. Lindsay, age 68, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at his home in Creston, Missouri,  under Hospice care, with his family at his side.

Vane Lamar Lindsey, only son of Helen P. (Williams) and J. Myrl Lindsay. was born January 3, 1944 in Poplar Bluff.  Vane graduated from Bernie High School, and then graduated with a degree in sociology from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro; followed by the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis with an Associate Arts degree in Mortuary Science.

On March 25, 1972, 
Vane married Mary Ann (Precht) in Mexico, Missouri.  After graduation, Vane was employed by funeral homes in Missouri before purchasing the Keating-McKasson (Lindsay) Funeral Home in Creston in 1972.  Eventually, he purchased other funeral homes in Murray, Lorimor, Afton, and also built a funeral home in Corning.  He owned and operated Lindsay Memorials and Ojibway Farms where he raised registered purebred Limousin cattle.

He was a member of the First Christian Church, Crest City Masonic Lodge, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Eagles, and Creston Aviators.

Vane is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann of Creston; his mother, Helen P. Lindsay of Creston; two sons, Andrew Lamar Lindsay (Jean) of Allen, Texas, and Lamar Paul Lindsay (Stacey) of Salem, Oregon; three grandchildren, Shianne Eve, Nora Beth Helene, and Calum Lamar Lindsay; uncle Leroy Williams (Doris) of Bernie; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James N. and Edwina F. Clark, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Vane was preceded in death by his father, J. Myrl Lindsay, in 1989 and grandson, Shawn Patrick Kelley in 2009.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Bernie. Funeral services will then be conducted at 1:30 p.m., at the First Christian Church in Bernie with the Rev. Todd Allen officiating.  Interment will follow at Rucker Cemetery near Williamsville.

Allean Triplett, daughter of the late Amiel and Ellen Eaton Hunt, was born in Bernie, Missouri, on February 20, 1916, and passed away at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on April 23, 2012, at the age of 96 years, 2 months, and 3 days.

Mrs. Triplett had lived in Essex most of her life. She was a member of the South Pleasant Valley General Baptist Church near Dexter and was a member of the Eastern Star.

On March 27, 1950, she was married to Jasper Junior Triplett in Bernie. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2001.

Surviving are one daughter, Carolyn Sue Taul-Remmert and husband, Robert Remmert of St. Charles; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Evelene Metcalf of Crane. Other family and friends also survive her.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Imogene Williamson, four brothers, Clifford, Herbert, Alvin, and Clarence Hunt.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m.,  Thursday, April 26, 2012  at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Harold Carter officiating.
Interment will be in the Triplett Cemetery near Dexter with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Genevia A. Langston

Genevia A. Langston, daughter of the late Don and Lelia Marie Doublin Douglas, was born in Puxico, Missouri on April 29, 1924, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing Center in Puxico on April 22, 2012, at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 24 days.

Genevia had lived in Puxico all her life and was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Puxico. She loved to piece quilt tops and gardening.

On December 27, 1943, she was married to Fenton Howard Langston, Sr. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2005.

Surviving are one son and spouse, Howard & Debbie Langston of DeSoto; four daughters and spouses, Linda and Vernon Wamsley of St. Louis, Judy Richard of Puxico, Mary Langston of Cape Girardeau, Penny and Mike Morrow of Wappapello; ten grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two brothers, D. L. Douglas of Puxico, Dean Douglas of Texas; one sister, Carolyn Reasons of Union; and her special friend and sister-in-law, Fern Douglas of Puxico. Other relatives and friends also survive. 

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Gale Ann Howard.

Visitation will be held after 5 p.m, Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Puxico with Rev. Doyle Mitchell of Puxico, officiating.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery near Puxico, with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.

Cynthia Ranee Powell, daughter of Mary Gromer Kinder of Dexter and the late Bobby J. Powell was born on March 23, 1960 at Dexter and departed this life in her residence at Dexter on April 21, 2012 at the age of 52.

Ms. Powell was a former beautician in the Poplar Bluff area, a member of Faith Fellowship Church of Dexter and a resident of Dexter.

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Mary and Arthur Kinder of Dexter: by three brothers, Bobby Powell of Broadhead, Wisconsin, Mike Conway and Keith Kinder both of Sikeston: by four sisters, Debbie Nelson of Qulin, Donna Gravil of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Daronda Brown of East Prairie and Pam Kinder of Sikeston: by her aunt, Ann Beck of Dudley: by two uncles, John Powell and Henry Powell, both of Dudley: by her cat, Hope.

Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2012 at the  Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2: p.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Karen Oldham officiating.  Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
