Albert Donald Henson

Albert Donald Henson, son of the late Walter Joseph and Pearl Babbs Henson, was born in Gideon, Missouri on December 11, 1928, and passed away at the Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on April 4, 2012, at the age of 83 years.


He was of the Freewill Baptist Faith.


On September 2, 1964 he was married to Sarah Walker. She preceded him in death on January 4, 2005.


Surviving are his son, Donald Henson of Effingham, Illinois and one daughter Donna Henson of Chesterfield, Missouri; Two granddaughteS,r Amada Paul and Nicole Nash; one great-grandson, Aaron Craig; three brothers, Vernon, Bob and Larry Henson; by one sister, Vera McDale. Other family and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: JT and Chuck Hensonand by two sisters: Doris Long and Wanda Wildes.

Visitation will be held after 12 p.m.,  Saturday, April 7, 2012,. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter, Missouri officiating.


Interment will be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Cora Mae Putnam, daughter of the late Charles H. Perry and Myrtle Brown Perry was born on May 26, 1913 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on April 4, 2012 at the Central Gardens Residential Care in Dexter at the age of 98 years.

Mrs. Putnam was a homemaker, member of the Pleasant Grove Community Church in Dexter, worked on the Stoddard County Election Board for many years; and a resident of Dexter.

On August 15, 1934 she was united in marriage to Elvin John Putnam in Bernie, Missouri.  Mr. Putnam preceded her in death on March 18, 2001.

Survivors include one daughter, Rosa Lee Bell and husband Ron of Greensboro, North Carolina; one sister, Vivian Irene Johnson of Bernie, Missouri; by one daughter-in-law, Janet Putnam of Dexter; by seven grandchildren, Denny Putnam and wife Shannon, Camie Richard and husband Keith, Mark Putnam and wife Shelli all of Dexter, John Bell and wife Laura, Don Bell, Donna Bell and Paul Bell all of Greensboro, North Carolina; two step-granddaughters, Rhonda Hutchason and Crystal Wekenborg and husband John, both of Cape Girardeau; by six great-grandchildren:  Lindsay Woods and husband Theron, Danielle Bateman, Brianna Bell, Dalton Putnam, Rachel Putnam and Griffin Putnam; also by three great-great-grandchildren Tyler Bateman, Colby Taylor and Lucas Woods.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bobbie Gene Putnam, by one brother, James H. Perry; by two grandsons, Bobby Allen Putnam and Alan Bell.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Saturday April 7, 2012.  Funeral services will then be conducted on Saturday at 1 p.m., in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. 

Interment will follow at the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter.

Betty Jane Doerschlen, daughter of the late John and Elsie Fischer, was born on October 31, 1928, in Niles, Michigan and passed away at her home in Dexter,
Missouri on March 31, 2012, at the age of 83 years.

On April 11, 1955 she was married to Eddy J. Doerschlen in Lordsburg, New Mexico.

Betty accompanied Ed on assignments in the Air Force to England, Okinawa, and various places on stateside assignments.  Ed and Betty have lived in Dexter for the last 31 years.

Surviving are her husband,  Col. Eddy J. Doerschlen, (Ret.) USAF of Dexter; one son, Martin Leon III of Scottsdale, Arizona; two daughters, Linda Marie Arathoon of Dexter,  and Laurie Ann Doerschlen-Williams of Honolulu, Hawaii; one granddaughter, Bettina Comstock of Cape Girardeau; two great-grandchildren, Amari and Trevon; and one sister, Johnetth Morles of Puerto Rico. Other relatives and many friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by infant daughter, Bettina Doerschlen; daughter, Deborah Jane Doerschlen; and one sister, Jeanette Morles.

Private Family Funeral and Graveside Services were held Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Steve Easterwood of Dexter, Missouri officiating both services.   
Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.

Patrick Ray Merick, son of Harold Merick and the late Joyce Ray, was born on January 14, 1964, in Tracy, California and passed away at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on April 3, 2012, at the age of  48 years, 2 months and 19 days.

Mr. Merick had lived Bloomfield, Missouri most of his life. He retired from the U. S. Air Force in 1992.  He was a decorated sergeant and was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, the Humanitarian Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Air Force Training Ribbon.  He also served in the United States National Guard and was a farmer.

Surviving are one son, Matthew Merick of Bloomfield; his father and stepmother, Harold and Brenda Merick of Bloomfield,; one brother, Randy Merick of Wappapello; one sister Sandra Campbell of Dexter; and his special friend, Diann Brotherton of Bloomfield.  Other relatives and many friends also survive.'

Friends may visit from 4 - 8 p.m., Thursday April 5, 2012, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m., Friday April 6, 2012, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Bloomfield, officiating.

Interment will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery in with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.

Marzella Catherine Skelton, daughter of the late John Franklin and Mary  Catherine Smith Heldermon was born in Bridgeport, Oklahoma on September 14,  1914, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing and Rehab Center in Puxico,  Missouri on April 1, 2012, at the age of 97.

She moved to Puxico in 1940. She has been a member of the Puxico Christian Church for 63 years. She enjoyed writing poetry, quilting and singing.

On September 11, 1940 she was married to Fred Skelton in Sarah, Oklahoma.  After 53 years of marriage, Fred passed away January 22, 1993.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in –law, Doris Ann and Charles Hedspeth of Puxico and Reita Fay and Phil LeBeau of Dexter; five  grandchildren and spouses, Delisa and Eric Sitze, Tracy and Brian Robison,  Clint and Hannah LeBeau, Kurt and Lindsay LeBeau, Weston and Ashley LeBeau; five great-grandchildren, Natalie and Dylan Sitze, Caleb and Logan Robison, and  Grayson LeBeau. Other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Tommy, Prentiss, Frank and Ernest Heldermon; three half-brothers, Odes, Earl and Albert Heldermon; one sister, Oneta Heldermon Sisco and one half-sister, Etta Heldermon Weiss.

Visitation will be held at 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the Puxico Christian Church in Puxico. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the Puxico Christian Church with the Rev. Wiley McGhee, the Rev. Todd Allen of Poplar Bluff and the Rev. Bobby Nordack of Puxico, officiating.

Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, in charge of arrangements.
