Julia Ferrara

Julia Ferrara, daughter of the late Douglas Estes and Nancy Cowan Estes was born on October 2, 1921 in Powe, Missouri and died on April 8, 2012 at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter at the age of 90.

Mrs. Ferrara was a seamstress at Elders Manufacturing, a member of the Dexter Church of God and a resident of Dexter.

On October 24, 1943 she was united in marriage to Michillino Mike Ferrara in Dexter.  Mr. Ferrara preceded her in death on February 13, 2006.

She is survived by one son and daughter in law, Mike Ferrara and wife Shirley of Alturas, California; by one grandson, Michael Scott Ferrara; by one sister, Sarah M. Mossman of Dexter and by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by five brothers, John Estes, Jewell Estes, Earl Estes, Ernie Estes and Sylvester Estes and by six sisters, Ella Brown, Lilly Estes, Flora Hayes, Mary Lou Snider and Nellie Cato.

Friends may call from 9. until 10 a.m., Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.  A private burial will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Eloise LaRue

Eloise LaRue, daughter of the late Charles LaRue and Anna Barker LaRue was born on January 19, 1916 in Frisco, Missouri and departed this life at her residence in Dexter, Missouri on April 9, 2012 at the age of 96 years.

Eloise was a former receptionist at the Y.M.C.A. in Pontiac, Michigan, former Waitress at the Hickory Log Restaurant in Dexter, attended the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, and was a resident of Dexter.

Survivors include two brothers, Charles “Bud” LaRue Jr. and wife Geneva of Sikeston, and Kenneth LaRue and wife Shirley of Dexter; one sister Opal Coffey of Dexter; also by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Glenn LaRue, Virgil LaRue, Leo LaRue, and Chester LaRue; by two sisters, Beulah Arnold and JoAnne Whitledge.

Friends may call from 11:3- a.m. until 1 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Phil Warren and Rev. Josh Carpenter officiating.  Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery.

Mary Bostic, daughter of the late Willie and Lillian Henson Cox, was born on July 10, 1931, in Kewanee, Missouri and passed away at her son’s home in Bloomfield, Missouri on April 9, 2012, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 30 days.

Mary had worked at Elder’s Manufacturing in Bloomfield as a presser. She had spent four years in California and all the rest of her life in Bloomfield. She attended the Beech Grove General Baptist Church.

She was married to Floyd Bostic in Sikeston, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2002.

Surviving are three sons, Dale Bostic and Farrell Bostic both of Bloomfield, Darrell Bostic of Marble Hill; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Bostic of Bloomfield. Other relatives and many friends also survive. 

She was preceded in death by four brothers.

Friends may visit from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday April 11, 2012, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday April 12, 2012, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Gary Teel of Dexter, officiating.

Interment will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery  with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of all arrangements.

Hali Mikhel Rice

Hali Mikhel Rice, daughter of Kevin Rice and Leslie Pattillo both of Bloomfield, was born on March 3, 2010 at St. Louis and departed this life in the emergency room of the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on April 6, 2012 at the age of 2.

Besides her parents, Hali is survived by one sister, Havyn Rice of Bloomfield; by her paternal grandparents, Carey and Matthew Cossey of Hillsboro, Allen and Jean Rice of Bloomfield: by her maternal grandparents, Richard and Stephanie Pattillo of Malden, Lisa and Darrell Tittle of Malden; by her paternal great-grandparents, Norene Harvell of St. Peters, Charley and Carmelita Harvell of Campbell, Lorene Rice of Malden, Samuel and Faye Sexton of Bloomfield; by her maternal great-grandparents, Richard Pattillo Sr. and Ernestine Pattillo of  Malden, Lena McElrath of Dexter and Allen and Dorothy Cossey of Hillsboro; by her great-great-grandmother, Marie Thompson of Dexter;  by other relatives and friends.

Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.  Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Leach and Rev. Meeks officiating.  Interment will follow in the Three Rivers Cemetery near Farmington.

James Thomas Woods

James Thomas Woods, son of the late J.T. Woods and Virginia Wright Woods was born on September 17, 1941 in Shaw, Mississippi and died on April 4, 2012 at his residence in Puxico at the age of 70.

Mr. Woods was a Veteran of the United States Army, a pastor and a farmer. He was a resident of Puxico.

In December of 1967 he was united in marriage to Lucye Brantley in Cleveland, Mississippi.  Mrs. Woods survives of their home in Puxico.

Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Joseph Thomas Woods of Mississippi, James C. Woods of Puxico and John Earl Woods of Red Rock, Oklahoma; by one daughter, Michelle K. Pipkin of Pocahontas, Tennessee; by one brother, Wesley Woods; by one sister, Sue Vasser of Horn Lake, Mississippi; by four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Grady Earl Woods and by one sister, Doris Greenhaw.

Friends may call at the First Baptist Church in Puxico from 9 a.m. until 11a.m.,  Monday, April 9, 2012.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, April 9, 2012 in the First Baptist Church in Puxico with Rev. Bill Garrett officiating.

 Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
