L.B. Williams

L.B. Williams, son of the late Mack McKinley Williams and Effie McCain Williams was born on March 21, 1930 in Bernie and died on September 29, 2011 at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter at the age of 81.

 

L.B. was a retired MFA Exchange truck driver and a former Bernie Police Dispatcher.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War.    Mr. Williams was a member of the Bernie General Baptist Church and was a resident of Bernie.

           

He was united in marriage to Delma Madine Griffin on January 26, 1956 in Flint, Michigan.  Mrs. Williams survives of their residence in Bernie.

 

Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, L. Glen Williams of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Larry Dee Williams of Dexter; by one daughter Debra Gail Tipton of Bernie; by one brother, Rev. Dean Williams of Dexter; by three sisters, Nelta Pippins of Terre Haute, Indiana, Lodena Heigle of Fouke, Arkansas and Jean Putnam of Dexter; by two grandchildren, Darrin Tipton & wife Beth, Julie Hopkins & husband Dustin all of Jackson, Missouri: by  two great-grandchildren, Sarah Tipton and Wyatt Hopkins.

           

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Mack Charles Williams, Everett Williams, Howard Williams and Jack Williams and by two sisters, Donis Martin and Doris DeGroot.

 

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 5 until 8 p.m.


Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 2 p.m., in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dean Williams and Rev. Steve Fitzpatrick officiating.  Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Bernie General Baptist Church.
