Dexter Board of Aldermen Pass Resolution, New Location for Farmers Market

Dexter, MO - The Dexter Board of Aldermen passed a resolution joining the Stoddard County Emergency Operations plan along with other cities in the county.

City attorney Yewell "Bud" Lawrence stated that this plan would only be activated should there be a county wide emergency such as a tornado, ice storm, etc.

Trevor Pulley, city administrator said the city of Dexter currently belongs to the plan, but this is an updated version.  The board approved the city's inclusion to the plan unanimously.

In citizen news, a person was concerned about the police and patrolling the West Park area because of speeding.  Chief Hank Trout spoke to the citizen and gave him his phone number and said to call anytime he needed assistance or had issues.  Pulley also asked Trout to give the citizen the number to city hall so he could speak to him as well.

Economic Development: Dexter Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Alisha Trammell stated that Besame Wellness has been sold to a new owner and the name will now be Verts Neighborhood Dispensary.  She also said that the Chamber Spring Luncheon will be held on May 5th at the Bearcat Event Center with El Cabrito catering the event.  Also the first Farmers Market of 2022 will be held at its new location at West Park on May 5th and will run each Thursday from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.

There will be a new business in Dexter.  It will be Advanced Dermatology of Southeast Missouri and will located on Business 60 formerly occupied by Saint Francis.  

Fire Department Report:  Dexter fire Chief Don Seymore has smoke detectors available to install; however because of the Red Cross program the fire department has to install them.  Please contact the fire dept. if you would like on to be installed.

Police Department Report: Police Chief Hank Trout said they received a $3,000 grant from Wal Mart.  They will purchase five new body cameras with the grant. Also the east side of K9 Biz building will be blocked off to work on the mural and wall.

Mayor Jason Banken made several re-appointments.  He re-appointed Alma Smith and Mark Snider to the Dexter Tree Board; Betty Merkle and Greg Miller to the Housing Authority and Fair Housing Commission and Mark Guethle to the Planning and Zoning Commission.  The board approved all reappointments.

Banken also asked the board to approve a liquor license for the Tin Can Tavern located in the former VFW building in downtown Dexter.  The board approved the license.

Stoddard County Commission Meeting Minutes - Monday, April 4, 2022

Bloomfield, MO - The Stoddard County Commissioners released their weekly minutes for Monday, April 4, 2022.

All three commissioners were present for the meeting.

Commissioner Steve Jordan made a motion to approve the minutes from Monday, March 28, 2022.  Commissioner Jarrell seconds.  All three vote yes to approve.

Commissioner Carol Jarrell made a most to approve the Ads and Abates for March 2022.  Commissioner jordan seconds.  All three vote yes to approve.

Guests who appeared during the two and 1/2 hour meeting were Carl Hefner, Sheriff, William Dowdy, Josh speakman, County Collector, Brad Clark - BRPC, Josh Ayers, Kelly Mitchell - BRPC, and Joe Koechner.

Commissioner Carol Jarrell made  a motion to adjourn at 11:35 a.m.  Commissioner Jordan seconds.  All three vote yes to approve.

Route AA in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform drainage repairs.  

This section of roadway is located from Maple Lane to Idalia Road in Bloomfield, Missouri 

Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, April 11 through Tuesday, April 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. 

The work zones will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near these areas.

Outer 61 in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform drainage repairs. 

This section of roadway is located from Route 51 to County Road 693, near Fisk, Missouri.  

Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, April 11 through Thursday, April 14 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

The work zone will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
