Stoddard County Route F Reduced for Pipe Replacement

Route F in Stoddard County will be reduced as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace the culvert pipe under the roadway. 

This section of roadway is located between County Road 420 and Route J.                    

Weather permitting, work will take place Tuesday, Nov. 19 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The work zone will be marked with signs.  Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.

MDC reports 88,843 deer harvested during firearms opening weekend

Top counties: Franklin with 2,078 deer checked, Texas with 1,931, and Callaway with 1,735.

Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) shows that deer hunters in Missouri harvested 88,843 deer during the opening weekend of the November portion of the fall firearms deer season Nov. 16 and 17. Of the 88,843 deer harvested, 51,086 were antlered bucks, 8,115 were button bucks, and 29,642 were does.

Top harvest counties for opening weekend were Franklin with 2,078 deer checked, Texas with 1,931, and Callaway with 1,735.

Last year, hunters checked 99,470 deer during the opening weekend of the 2018 November portion of firearms deer season.

The November portion of fall firearms deer seasons continues through Nov. 26. Archery deer season opens again Nov. 27 through Jan. 15, 2020. The late youth portion runs Nov. 29 through Dec. 1. The antlerless portion runs Dec. 6-8. The alternative methods portion runs Dec. 28 through Jan. 7, 2020.

Bloomfield Turkey Trot 5K Run and Walk will be held on Thanksgiving morning, November 28th at the Bloomfield City Park. 

8 a.m. registration with the race start time set for 8:30 a.m.  Cost is $20 per person.  Medals will be awarded.

Dexter, Missouri - The Lunch Box formerly known as the Stoddard County Nutrition Center invites you to join them for lunch Monday - Friday and enjoy some fun activities as well.

The Lunch Box is located at 23 W. Stoddard St. in historic downtown Dexter and it's not just for seniors!

You really don't have to be a senior to eat there.  The food is great, served hot, and very inexpensive.

They serve lunch from noon - 1 p.m. and the cost is $3.50 for seniors and $5.50 for non-seniors.  Suggested age for seniors is 60+

Monday, November 11th - Closed for Veterans Day

Tuesday, November 12th - Chicken and wild rice soup, cheese stick, vegetable blend, peans, crackers, and fruit.

Wednesday, November 13th - Fish or pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw, hush puppies, and fruit.

Thursday, November 14th - Beef stew, spinach, roll, and fruit.

Friday, November 15th - Ham and beans, stewed tomatoes, cooked cabbage, cornbread and fruit.

Scouting for Food in Stoddard County

Stoddard County, Missouri - It's that time of the year when Boy Scouts from all over Stoddard County will drop off empty bags on your doorstep this Saturday, November 9th beginning at 9 a.m.

Then next Saturday, November 16th those same hard-working scouts will be back to pick up bags filled with donations for our local Stoddard County Gospel Mission.

Any canned good or dry food item is requested.

If you don't get a bag at your house, but you still want to donate you can drop off your food items at the Mission on Saturday, November 16th.

What items can be dropped off or placed in the bags?  Applesauce, canned goods, crackers, oatmeal, rice, pasta, cooking oils, flour, peanut butter, trail mix, canned chili, dry beans in a bag, dry rice, boxes of dry muffin mix, Ramen noodles, canned fruit, spaghetti or noodles, and cans of soup.

This is the largest service project of the year for Boy Scouts.
