Presidential Proclamation on the Death of Senator John McCain - Flags to Fly Half-Staff

As a mark of respect for the memory and longstanding service of Senator John Sidney McCain III, I hereby order, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, on the day of interment.  I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same period at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-seventh day of August, in the year of our Lord two thousand eighteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-third.

* Senator McCain will be laid to rest Sunday September 2, 2018 at the cemetery of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Interstate 55 in New Madrid County Reduced for Pavement Repairs
Southbound I-55 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane as contractor crews mill and fill the roadway from mile marker 43 to mile marker 42. Weather permitting, work will take place Tuesday, Aug. 28 and Wednesday, Aug. 29 with a lane reduction in place during operations and overnight.

Due to the location of construction, the Marston rest area will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 28 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. while crews complete the repairs. The rest area will reopen as construction continues to move south on I-55.

The work zone will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.

City of Dexter Public Hearing Notice: Tax Rates

Dexter, Missouri - There will be a PUBLIC HEARING held by the Dexter Board of Aldermen at 5 p.m., August 27th, 2018 at the Dexter City Hall, 301 East Stoddard Street, Dexter, MO.

This will be a PUBLIC HEARING at which citizens may be heard on the tentative property tax rates proposed to be set by the City of Dexter, a political subdivision.

The tax rates shall be set to produce the revenues which the budget for fiscal year beginning July 1, 2018, shows to be required from the property tax.

Each tax rate is determined by dividing the amount of revenue required by the current assessed valuation.

The results is multiplied by 100 so the tax rate will be expressed in cents per $100 valuation.

The above information tax rates are based on info available at this time.  The rates may be adjusted following receipt of additional data and recalculation of final tax rates.

Route C in Stoddard and Bollinger Counties will be reduced with an 11 foot width restriction as contractor crews overlay the roadway.  

This section of roadway is located from Route 25 to Route 51.

Weather permitting, work will take place Tuesday, Sept. 4 through Friday, Oct. 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

The work zone will be marked with signs.  Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.

Dexter, MO - US Poly Enterprise, Inc. has an immediate opening in their Customer Service Department. 


The individual will work on, but not limited to, providing customer service and order entry in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions.  The individual will also be responsible for accurately entering customer purchase orders, proof reading and working closely with the art, production and shipping departments to ensure accuracy of the customers’ orders.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Prior experience in an office setting and in customer service.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task for maximum efficiency and with accuracy.
  • Professional and pleasant phone etiquette and have experience using a multi-line phone.
