Class 2, District 3 All District Baseball Team Announced

Class 2, District 3 All District Team has been announced for the Spring 2019 highs school baseball season.

Advance had five players.  Augustus Garner, Hunter Curtis, Ridley Bailey and Noah Sauceda each earned honors on the all district team.

Layton Keith of Advance received Honor Mention.

Here is the list of the 2019 Spring Baseball All District Team

Advance: Augustus Garner, Hunter Curtis, Ridley Bailey and Noah Sauceda

Bloomfield: Ethan Hutchison

Chaffee: Landon Tenkhoff, Breven Yarbro, Brennan Fowler, Kade Sullivan, and Andrew Brown

Meadow Heights: Wyatt Lincoln and Kade Lindgren

Puxico: Kasen Barnfield

St. Vincent: John WibbenMeyer and Nick Lappe

Honorable Mention

Hyten Named SCAA Coach of the Year, Two Advance Players Also Named
Dexter, Missouri - Former Dexter boys basketball coach Lloyd Hyten was named the SCAA (Stoddard County Athletic Association) Coach of the Year.

Hyten led the Bearcats (15 -12, 7-0 SCAA) to their third straight SCAA regular-season championship and their first SCAA tournament championship since 2012.

Jack Below from the Advance High School boys basketball team (12-14, 5-2) was named the SCAA Player of the Year. He averaged 26.7 points per game. 

Advance senior Wes Shelby was named the SCAA Defensive Player of the Year. He helped the Hornets to a third-place finish in the regular-season standings and in the conference tournament.

2019 SCAA Baseball Seeds Announced, Games Begin Monday, April 15th

Stoddard County, Missouri - The 2019 Stoddard County Athletic Association Baseball Tournament seeds have been released.  The Advance Hornets earned the top seed and a first-round bye in the SCAA Tournament which begins on Monday, April 15 at the higher seed locations.

Advance (7-2, 2-0 SCAA) will host a semifinal at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16th against the winner of the Bell City/Bloomfield game.

Seeds are as follows #1 Advance, #2 Woodland (4-5, 3-0), #3 Bernie (6-3, 2-2), #4 Bell City (1-5, 1-2), #5 Bloomfield (3-6, 2-1), #6 Puxico (0-5, 0-2), #7 Richland (1-7, 0-3).

Bell City will host Bloomfield at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Woodland will host Richland at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Bernie will host puxico at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Woodland/Richland and Bernie/Puxico winners will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the site of the highest seeded team.

Championship and 3rd place games are set for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17th also at the sites of the higher seeded teams.

Advance Topples Richland in OT 87-81

Essex, Missouri - The Richland Rebels hosted the Advance Hornets on Thursday evening.  Advance won in OT 87-81.

Jack Below scored a game-high 39 points for the Hornets.

ADvance (6-7, SCAA 4-1) led 18-13 at the end of the first period and 38-36 at half-time.  Richland rallied to take a 57- 46 lead at the end of three.  

The Rebels are having a good year with a 7-5 overall record and SCAA record 2-2.

Seth Whittley tallied 17 points, Zach Simm recorded 13 points, and Hunter Curtis finished with 10 points for Advance.

Daniel Petty scored a team-high 30 points for Richland.  Tanner Freeman added 21 and Jackson Bell contributed 18 points.

Richland will travel to Oak Ridge on Tuesday, January 15th.

Advance will travel to Zalma on Tuesday, January 15th.

SCAA Tournament will be seeded this weekend and begin on January 21st - 25th.
