Dexter Elks October Students of the Month

Bloomfield, Missouri - Larry White, Dexter Elks Lodge member presented certificates and $50 checks for Savings Bonds to Bloomfield seniors Caroline Robison and Alex Gibbs.

Caroline is the daughter of Bill and Tracy Robison.

Alex is the son of Todd and Jill Gibbs.

Both Bloomfield High School students are competing with honorees from the other Stoddard County Schools for the Dexter Elks Students of the Year.  Each student, along with their parents and counselor, Sara Holloway, will be honored with a banquet to be held at the Dexter Elks Lodge later next spring.  The Elks Students of the Year will be announced at the spring banquet.

Pies for Puppies Fundraiser

Bloomfield, Missouri - If you know Bonnie Blue then you know she loves dogs!  She rescues and tries to find homes for unwanted or abandoned pets in Bloomfield, Missouri.

The dog shown in the photo was "borrowed" from the Bloomfield Pound to her house to be fostered until he is well enough to be adopted.

"This dog is a real sweetheart! I know it has to hurt when I care for his injury, but he just stand there very patiently," commented Blue.  "He is mild mannered and gets along with my dogs well. I haven't tried him with my cats yet, but from what I've observed I think he will get along with them. I so hope he can be placed with a loving family who will spoil him rotten!"

On Saturday, October 29th, Pies for Puppies fundraiser will be held at Town & Country from 9:00 a.m. - noon.  If you would like to donate baked goods to be sold please drop off at the grocery store before 9:00 a.m.

Modern Woodmen is sponsoring the event and will match funds raised up to $500.

Cash donations will be accepted.  Your support of this event will be greatly appreciated!

Bloomfield Fall Festival Parade Slated for Friday

Bloomfield, Missouri - There is still time to enter and ride in the Bloomfield Fall Festival Parade scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016.

The parade will travel from Bloomfield High School to the Bloomfield City Park.

Come and share on Saturday, October 29th from noon - 5:00 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church of Bloomfield.

Men's, women's and children's clothes of all sizes are welcome!

Liberty Days at Stars & Stripes Museum

Bloomfield, Missouri - Liberty Days begins Wednesday evening with the 2nd Annual Praise in the Park at Bloomfield City Park beginning at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.  If rain it will be held in the FEMA Building.

On Thursday, October 13th the Opening Ceremony will be held at 6:00 p.m. with the Honor Guard and Patriot Guard.  At 8:00 p.m. Mike Barnett will sing oldies from the 60s and 70s on stage at the barn.  From 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. you can participate in old fashioned games listen to music, visit the living history village, eat delicious foods and shop for crafts at the Stars & Stripes Museum.

Friday, October 14th is Education Day for area schools from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  The Parade from Bloomfield Schools to the City Park will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the Miss Bloomfield Pageants will be at 7:00 p.m.  The Liberty Days event will be open until 10:00 a.m. with entertainment, prizes, food, crafts and living history villages.

Saturday, October 15th there will be a Memorial Service at 8:30 a.m.  The cost to park is $2.00 per vehicle on Saturday.  The Quilt Show will be all day from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and the Silent Auction will begin at 9:00 a.m. along with the Buddy Heaton Choir.  At 10:00 a.m. the Bloomfield High School Jazz Band will perform and at 11:00 a.m. the Bloomfield's Got Talent will begin.

At 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Miss Liberty Days Pageant will feature children.  At 12:00 p.m. is the Missing Man Ceremony and at 4:00 p.m. is the Weapons & Uniform Demonstrations.

There will be various music acts throughout the encampment, prizes, foods, crafts, and more.
