Local Student Receives Ozark Federal Credit Union Scholarship to Attend Three Rivers
Subrina Berger of Poplar Bluff has received the Ozark Federal Credit Union Scholarship to attend Three Rivers College this Fall.  Thomas is married to Christopher Berger and is the daughter of G. Dewayne Robison of  Poplar Bluff and Glenda Forbes of Collinsville, IL.  She is a 1986 graduate of Poplar Bluff Senior High School and  plans to study Elementary Education while at Three Rivers.
 
Ozark Federal Credit Union awards up to two $500 scholarships each year.  To be eligible for the OFCU scholarship, the student must be a current OFCU member, in good standing, and planning to attend Three Rivers College.  The scholarship is open to both traditional 1st-year students and non-traditional students.  OFCU scholarships are determined based on merit.  Funds are awarded yearly and disbursed between two semesters for the amount of $250 per semester.  The scholarship is for one year only and the student must maintain a 2.0 GPA and remain a full-time student for the entirety of the year in which the scholarship is awarded.   
 
Three Rivers College, recognizing outstanding academic achievement as well as financial need, has a number of established institutional and endowed scholarships to assist students in realizing their educational goals. 2018 Miss DHS Candidates Announced
Dexter, Missouri - Candidates for the 2018 Miss DHS were recently named at Dexter High School.  

The senior class nominates the candidates and then the entire student body at the high school votes for Miss DHS prior to the home football game slated for Friday, August 31st against the Salem Tigers.

The crowning will take place at 6:30 p.m. prior to the pre-game performance by the Dexter High School Marching Band.

Announcements -

There is a boys basketball open gym on Thursday after school until 5:00 pm in the BEC.

Students interested in joining the Army should sign up via the Google Form sent out by Mrs. Stone.  These meetings will take place on Thursday and Friday.

There will be an FCCLA meeting today (Aug 29) during advisory in the auditorium.  All students interested in joining can attend. The FCCLA membership dues are $15 and must be paid by the September 19 general meeting. 

There will be a meeting for students interested in joining Scholar Bowl during 8th hour on Sept 5th.  Students who do participate in other extra-curricular activities can join as sponsors try to schedule matches to accommodate team members.

FCA will have their first breakfast on Friday, August 31, at 7:15 AM at Risen Church.  All students are welcome to attend the breakfasts.  If you wish to be a member, then dues are $15 and that pays for your t-shirt.  If you have any questions please see Mrs. A. Simmons or Mr. Lovelady.   

The DHS entrance doors will be unlocked each day after school until 6:00 pm.  

Kicking Cats Dance Team - The make up dance camp is Saturday September 8th from 10:00-12:00 at Melissa's school of dance in Sikeston. Please bring money.  It is $18 for the day and $10 for everyday that you missed unless you have paid in full.  If you are unable to attend please turn in your money into the office and notify Mrs. Monroe.  It is very important that you be there.

Announcements -

Congrats to Margo Nea (4th in Junior Girls) and Gabrielle Brown (25th in Freshmen girls) for medaling at the Jackson Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

There is a Junior Class Magazine Sales Meeting in the auditorium today during advisory.

Announcements -

Girls varsity tennis (7 players)  will be dismissed after 7th period.  They will not report to 8th period today.

Mrs. Guys, Mrs. Boles and Mr. Sitze's advisory classes will go to the gym on Monday, Aug 27th (unless they are going to join FBLA and attend that meeting in Mrs. Guy's room.

Pep club members interested in trying out for our BEARCAT MASCOT should respond to the email sent by Mr. Myers.

Students who are interested in joining the DHS Epsilon Beta Book Club should check their email for information from Mrs. Hobgood.  Dues are due by Monday, August 27th, at 4PM.
