The Bernie Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, March 8th. Regular items on the agenda included the approval of minutes, approval of program evaluations on the Parents as Teachers Program and Transportation.
Bills were also reviewed and approved.
The Board approved the budget revision # 2 made to the 2020/21 budget.
During executive session certified staff reviews were held. The board approved Rachel Collier and Cendyl McGowan being tenured and approved giving contracts to tenured and non-tenured certified staff.
The Board accepted the resignations from Tiffany Terrell, JH/HS Math Teacher and Amanda Robinson, Parents as Teachers.
Positions filled during executive session:
Kara Miller, JH/HS Math Teacher.
The next regularly scheduled Board Meeting will be April 12, 2021

Board Notes:
The Board of Education met in regular session Monday night February 8th.
The Board approved Calendar B for the 2021/2022 school year.
Program evaluations on Co-Curricular Activities, Discipline and A+ were approved. The A+ Assurance statement was re-adopted thereby allowing Bernie students who qualify to obtain 2 years of tuition at a Community College or Tech school.
The Board approved the financial statement and paying the monthly bills.
During executive session:
The Board awarded Principal contracts to Tommie Ellenburg and Brad Botsch through the school year 2023/2024.
The Board approved adding YaVonda Pulley, Brandy New and Jaquavius White to the Substitute Teacher Employee list.

During a recent Missouri State BETA Convention, several Bernie High School and Junior High School students qualified to attend the National BETA Convention in Orlando, Florida. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Missouri State convention was conducted in a virtual manner on February 3, 2021; however the National BETA Convention is slated to be a live event.
John Nimmo was elected to the position of Missouri Senior BETA State Secretary.
Bernie will be well represented at the National Convention as they are sending nine students.

Alonna Barker and Bailey Cannady placed 2nd in 3-D Design.
Mackenzie Powell, Sara Guzman and Sierra Kirkpatrick placed 1st in Portfolio.

Jon Aycock placed 4th in 6th grade Math,
Blair Pleiming placed 2nd in 7th grade ELA,
Alexa Dillinger placed 3rd in Apparel Design.
Tatum Baxter placed 5th in Two Dimensional Art.
