Updated Obituary for Doris Barber

Doris Barber, daughter of the late Joseph Mayberry and Matilda Kleffer Mayberry was born on November 7, 1926 in Essex, Missouri and departed the life on January 14, 2017 at Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg, Indiana at the age of 90.

She was a member of the Risen Church in Dexter, Missouri.  She was a former employee of International Shoe Company where she was machine operator and Elder Manufacturing in Dexter, where she was a seamstress.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #311 and American Legion Auxiliary.

She was united in marriage in Piggott, Arkansas on December 15, 1945 to Harold Barber.  Mr. Barber survives of the home.

Survivors include, her husband Harold Barber; two sons, Joseph Harold Barber and Gayla of Fredericktown, Missouri and Ray Gene Barber and Beth of Oakland City, Indiana; by two sisters, Lillian Vieth of Paducah, Kentucky and Joyce Fritts of Eureka, Missouri; by one grandchild, Charity (Chad) Julian; by two great-grandchildren, Brody Julian and Micah Julian.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Raymond Mayberry, Carl Mayberry, Clarence Mayberry, Eugene Mayberry, Walter Mayberry and Marvin Mayberry; by one sister, Freda Allen.

Friends may call at the Rainey Mathis Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. 

Services will be conducted at Rainey Mathis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Steve Tippen and Rev. Rick Roberts officiating. 

Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery.

In Loving Memory of Denise Merideth

Denise Merideth, age, 48, died Saturday January 14, 2017 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 14, 1968 in Memphis Tennessee, to the Mary Jane Mitchell Wilson Steward and step father Larry Steward who survives of Cape Girardeau and the late Dennis Wilson.

On August 31, 1996 she married Don Merideth who preceded her in death on July 22, 2010.

She was a self employed hairstylist at Karen Oliver and Co. in Cape Girardeau.

In addition to her mother she is survived by one son Allen Scott Findley of Cape. One brother, J.D. Steward of Scott City. Paternal grandmother Ada Wilson of Sikeston.

She was also preceded in death by in addition to her father and husband she was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather J.M. Wilson and her maternal grandparents Charles and Mary Etta Mitchell.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 20, 2017 from 11:00 until time of service at noon, Roy Merideth will officiate.

Gloria Kathreen Robinson of Dexter, daughter of the late James Melvin and Letha Pearl Martin O'Dell, was born near Bloomfield, Missouri on August 19, 1928, and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on January 14, 2017, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 26 days.

She had lived in the Dexter area all of her life. She had worked at Robinson Shoe Repair and attended the Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter. She enjoyed spending time with her family at home.

Surviving are one son & wife, Glen & Diane Robinson of Dexter; two daughters & husbands, Juanita & Ralph Morgan of Bloomfield, Paula & Gordon Waggoner of Dexter; seven grandchildren and spouses, Wendi & Steve Baker, Jeremiah & Brandi Robinson, Joshua & Rebecca Robinson, Ben Robinson, Mike Morgan, Sarah & Tom Grisham, Beth & Ben Bolton; fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers & wives, James F. & Lucille O'Dell, Charles & Joan O'Dell all of Dexter; three sisters & husband, Elizabeth Riggs of Scott City, Freda Warren of Clarkton, Delcie Lee & Carl Hesselbein of St. Peters. Other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Norma June Fortner

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Watkins & Sons Chapel with Rev. Dean Williams of Dexter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sycamore Cemetery near Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Gracie Lavern (Hart) Burleson, age 85, died January 11, 2017 at her home in Diehlstadt, Missouri.

Born November 4, 1931 in Lonoke, Arkansas to the late Daniel Lee and Anna Lee (Chambers) Hart. Gracie was a baptized Christian.

On November 4, 1957 she married John Douglas Burleson; he preceded her in death on December 21, 2000.

Gracie was the fifth of ten children. One brother, R.L. Hart; and three sisters, Ella Mae Eason, Martha Thompson and Margarette Simpson preceded her in death.

She is survived by five children, Kevin & Anna Heuiser of Sikeston, Dwight & Pamela Mills of Dexter, Missouri, Terry & Patricia Wilson of Natchitoches, Louisiana, Doug & Chlorena Burleson of Scott City, Missouri and Derek & Robyn Burleson of Benton, Missouri; two sisters, Peggy DeHart of Diehlstadt and Mary Etta White of Cabot, Arkansas; three brothers, Daniel Hart, Bob & Dessie Hart and Paul & Diane Hart all of Lonoke, Arkansas; one brother-in-law, B.J. Simpson of Hickory Plains, Arkansas; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Everett of Union City, Tennessee and Juanita & Ray Lowrey of Lexington, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, DeAnna Heuiser, Brad & Tanya Heuiser, Doug & Jenny Wede, Scott Heuiser, Ben Mills & Jessica Snider, Carl & Jessica Herron, Ashley Wilson, Garrett & Grant Burleson; one honorary granddaughter, Tara Browning; and four great grandchildren, Aidan Heuiser, Elliot Heuiser, Jacob Wede and Hannah Wede.

Grace loved all her nieces, nephews and other loved ones; too many to name.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12:00 noon at Ponder Funeral Home. Pastor Doug Wede and Pastor Ken Johnson, chaplain of Tri-County Hospice will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be Brad Heuiser, Scott Heuiser, Ben Mills, Doug Wede, Carl Herron, Garrett Burleson and Grant Burleson.
