ShowMe Times Players of the Week Against Sikeston

ShowMe Times Players of the Week Against Sikeston
Dexter, Missouri - The ShowMe Times is proud to highlight the outstanding performance of two Dexter Bearcat Football Athletes.  Each week the ShowMe Times will choose two players – one offensive player and one defensive player who will be featured as Players of the Week.

Leadership on the athletic field is often a good indicator of the future development of our young students and is a perfect training ground for future leaders.

This week was a tough decision as so many players contributed in ways that did not reflect on the stats sheet against Drexel; however only two players were chosen.

The Offensive Player of the Week is Corbin Strong.  Corbin rushed for 72 yards on 10 carries averaging 7.2 yards per carry.  He also scored the Bearcat's 2nd touchdown with 5:47 left in the 4th quarter.  Corbin played defense as well attaining 6 tackles.

"Corbin is having a great year as well in both sides of the ball," commented Dexter head football coach Kevin Goltra.  "He provided the burst we needed to win the game Friday with powerful runs and good blocking."

The Defensive Player of the Week is Gabe Jackson.  Gabe attained 8 tackles, 3 solos and 5 assists.

"Gabe is an impact player on both sides of the ball," stated Goltra.  "He played a crucial role in the shutout against Sikeston, leading the team with 8 tackles.  He is someone that every team game plans for."

Congratulations to both of these two fine young men on their accomplishments.

The Bearcats will be back in action when they host the Caruthersville Tigers on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Charles Bland Stadium.  Game time 7:00 p.m.  Homecoming festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. with the Community Tailgate and then at 6:30 p.m. will be the Homecoming Coronation at Charles Bland Stadium.
