Dexter High School Students Earn Awards at the 62nd Annual SEMO Regional Science Fair

Cape Girardeau, Missouri - Dexter High School students earned awards at the 62nd Annual Southeast Missouri State University Regional Science Fair.

Dylan Long earned 1st Place in Chemistry and a special award from the American Chemical Society for the best Senior Chemistry Project.  He received a $75 cash reward.  He also received a backpack full of items valued at $100 from the U.S. Air Force 

Lauren Rascher received 1st Place in Microbiology/Zoology and a special award from the American Chemical Society for the best Senior Biochemistry Project.  She received a $75 cash reward.

Shelby Smith earned 2nd Place in Environmental Science.

Dylan also placed 2nd overall and was awarded an all expense paid trip to compete in Pittsburgh at Intel ISEF during the week of May 14-18.

The Bank of Missouri sponsors Tinnin Center show for Poplar Bluff R-1 students
 
The Bank of Missouri Poplar Bluff sponsored a performance of “Laura Ingalls Wilder:

Voice of the Prairie” for Poplar Bluff elementary students held at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center at Three Rivers College.

Around 400 children saw the children’s theater show performed by the Imaginary Theatre Company of St. Louis and presented by the TRC Patrons of the Arts Society.

Dexter High School FCCLA students earned top honors at the FCCLA State Conference at Tan-Tar-A which was held March 11th - 13th.

Michaela Gard earned Silver in Sports Nutrition.

Lexi Renken earned Gold with her Chapter Service Project.

Madi Robertson earned Silver in Interior Design.

Alysa Davis earned Gold with her Chapter Service Project.

Bloomfield School Board Meeting Minutes for March 2018

Bloomfield, Missouri - The Bloomfield School Board met on Monday, March 12, 2018.  Below are the minutes from Toni Hill, Bloomfield School Superintendent.

A few students from our Jr Beta Club presented as well as our state qualifier for History Day - the students did a fantastic job presenting!

The board approved May 29-June 18, 2018 as our summer school dates. 

The board also approved the three insurance plans recommended by the insurance committee for the 2018-19 employee insurance plan options.  

The board discussed some upcoming summer facility upgrades.  A buzzer entry system for all buildings was discussed and agreed upon that this was a good use of Fund 4 monies.  Also discussed was the high school bathroom remodel - as discussed in our facility committee meetings, the bathrooms will be remodeled during the summers using Fund 4 monies.  We will begin with the high school bathrooms because it is the one most in need.

During executive session, the board:

1.  Approved Brasley Conner, Sandra Cato, and Sarah Ballance as substitutes pending

     background check and proper paperwork

2.  Accepted resignations of Sara Holloway, Miranda Foster, and Stephanie Sappington

3.  Approved Jonathan Simpher as assistnt JH baseball coach for 2017-2018 school year

4.  Hired all certified staff
