In Memory of Jerry Cobb

In Memory of Jerry Cobb

Jerry Cobb, son of the late Elizabeth Lyons Cobb and Clarence Cobb was born on March 1, 1942, in Success, Arkansas and departed this life on March 26, 2025, at his residence in Malden at the age of 83.


Mr. Cobb had worked at MFA in Bernie. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, being outdoors, gardening, and traveling.


On June 15, 1966, he was united in marriage to Maria Ellen “Mary” Trevino at Bloomfield, Missouri. Mrs. Cobb preceded him in death on November 22, 2023.


He is survived by two sons, Lee Cobb of Malden, Missouri and John Cobb of Doniphan, Missouri; by his daughter, Teresa Cobb of Malden, Missouri; by his brother, Joe Cobb of Bernie, Missouri; by two sisters, Verneal Ross of Malden, Missouri, and Bonnie Fouse of Hoopeston, Illinois; and by eighteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.


Other than by his wife and parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Vonda Cobb, Gene Cobb, Willie Cobb, Leon Cobb, and Jerry Cobb; and by his sister, Wretha Minton.


A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the New Beginnings Christian Outreach in Malden, Missouri with Rev. Ricky Williams officiating.

In Memory of Brenda Yvonne Colbert

Brenda Yvonne Colbert, daughter of the late Ralph “Pug” Buchanan and Altha Woodriff Buchanan, was born on January 25, 1946, and departed this life on March 15, 2025, at her residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 79 years.


Mrs. Colbert was a former secretary for Rick Shipman Construction in Dexter, Missouri and was a member of Lighthouse Christian Church in Dexter. She enjoyed sewing, collecting seashells and dolls, and working in their yard and garden, and she loved traveling with her husband.


On February 14, 1998, in Dexter, Missouri, she was united in marriage to James Edward Colbert.


She is survived by her sons, Rick Shipman and wife Barbie of Dexter, Missouri, Bobby Shipman and wife Rhonda of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Jimmy Colbert of Fredericktown, Missouri; by her daughters, Gerianne Twomey and husband Jason of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Julie Twomey and husband Jamie of Dexter, Missouri, and Sheri Burns and husband Randy of Ozark, Missouri; by two sisters, Annette Groves of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jo Faulkner of Warner Robins, Georgia; and by nineteen grandchildren, Bud Shipman, Grace Featherston, Kenna Shipman, Brent Shipman, Cody Shipman, Courtnie Greer, Dalton Twomey, Brandon Twomey, Donnie Twomey, Lexie Twomey, Anna Meales, Whittney Rust, Brittney Duncan, Haylee Minks, Sajah Ballard, Daniel Twomey, Kady Ballard, Jimmy Colbert, and Kayla Burns; and by twenty great grandchildren.


Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Darla Shipman and Rhonda Lee Colbert; and by her brother, Herschel Buchanan.


Visitation will be held at Lighthouse Christian Church in Dexter on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

In Memory of James Edward Colbert

James Edward Colbert, son of the late JH Colbert and Willie Martin Carr, was born on June 30, 1940, in Pemiscot County, Braggadocio, Missouri and departed this life on March 20, 2025, at his residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 84 years.


Mr. Colbert was a former truck driver, and he was a member of Lighthouse Christian Church in Dexter. He enjoyed fishing, collecting coins, working in their yard and garden, and piddling with wood – building birdhouses, and he loved traveling with his wife.


On February 14, 1998, in Dexter, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Brenda Yvonne Buchanan. Mrs. Colbert preceded him in death on March 15, 2025.


He is survived by his daughters, Gerianne Twomey and husband Jason of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Julie Twomey and husband Jamie of Dexter, Missouri, and Sheri Burns and husband Randy of Ozark, Missouri; by his sons, Jimmy Colbert of Fredericktown, Missouri, Rick Shipman and wife Barbie of Dexter, Missouri, and Bobby Shipman and wife Rhonda of Bloomfield, Missouri; by his brother, Tom Colbert of Council Bluffs, Iowa; by his sister, Linda Faye Wagner of Texas; and by nineteen grandchildren, Courtnie Greer, Dalton Twomey, Brandon Twomey, Donnie Twomey, Lexie Twomey, Anna Meales, Whittney Rust, Brittney Duncan, Haylee Minks, Sajah Ballard, Daniel Twomey, Kady Ballard, Jimmy Colbert, Kayla Burns, Bud Shipman, Grace Featherston, Kenna Shipman, Brent Shipman, and Cody Shipman; and by twenty great grandchildren.

In Memory of James “Jim” Dwight Blunt

James “Jim” Dwight Blunt, son of the late Dwight Blunt and Helen Snider Blunt, was born on October 17, 1946, in Rural Essex, Missouri, and departed this life on March 23, 2025, at his residence in Essex, Missouri, at the age of 78 years.


Mr. Blunt was a Veteran of the United States Army and a former farmer. He was an avid reader and enjoyed talking politics with his son-in-law, and he loved watching his children’s sporting events.


On January 19, 1968, in Kaiserslautern, Germany, he was united in marriage to Aud Ramstetter. Mrs. Blunt survives of their home in Essex.


Along with his wife, he is survived by his son, Anthony “Tony” Dwight Blunt of Lynchberg, Virginia; by his daughter, Terri Blunt Smith and husband Eddie of Holcomb, Missouri; by his sister, Judi Mitchell of Chesapeake, Virginia, by his sister-in-law, Thelma Blunt of Essex, Missouri; by two brothers-in-law, Thor Ramstetter and wife Erika and Asbjörn Ramstetter and wife Doris; by five grandchildren, Jayde Blunt and husband Jon Archer, Ian Dwight Blunt, Matt Smith and wife Misty, Josh Smith and wife Lindsay, and Andy Smith; by eight great grandchildren; and by many extended family and friends.


Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Curtis “Bud” Blunt; by his sister, Norma Williams, by his daughter-in-law, Tammy Blunt, by his sister-in-law, Liv Provence; and by three brothers-in-law, Robert Williams, Kenneth Mitchell, and Paul Provence.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A memorial service will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

In Memory of Mildred “Midge” Jean Sandage

Mildred “Midge” Jean Sandage, daughter of the late Gail Winfred King and Hazel Ann Phelps King, was born on November 18, 1936, and departed this life on March 23, 2025, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 88 years.


Mrs. Sandage retired as head cook from Bloomfield Public Schools in Bloomfield, Missouri, and was a resident of Dexter, Missouri.


She was united in marriage to Guy Edward Sandage. Mr. Sandage preceded her in death November 12, 1989.


She is survived by two daughters, Jackie McKuin and husband Aaron of Dexter, Missouri, and Cheryl Legrand of Branson, Missouri; by two daughters-in-law, Cheryl Sandage of Dexter, Missouri and Betty Sandage of Eagle Lake, Florida; by eleven grandchildren, Garrett McKuin, Zachory Sandage, Colby Sandage, Jordan Sandage, Haley Sandage, Jessie Sandage, Jason Sandage, Christy Houchins, Krystal Simpson, Tammy Cate, and Jeffrey Massey; and by twenty-one great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.


Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Massey; by two sons, Samuel Sandage and Gary Sandage; by her sister, Bernice Allen; by four brothers, William “Bill” King, Gail King, Dyral King, and Donald King; and by two sons-in-law, Joe Massey and Robert Legrand.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. with David Morse officiating. Interment will follow in the Bloomfield City Cemetery.
