Lydia Clark, daughter of the late William Samuel Whitaker and Helen Myers Whitaker, was born on November 2, 1947, in Powe, Missouri, and departed this life on January 9, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 77 years.
Mrs. Clark worked for numerous years at Tool N Dye Metal Removal in Malden, Missouri, for 8 years she worked for SCA Hygiene and retired after 10 years as a Veteran’s Financial Advisor at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was of the Baptist faith and a resident of Bernie, Missouri.
On October 17, 1966, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, she was united in marriage to Robert Ernie Clark. Mr. Clark preceded her in death on November 5, 2009.
She is survived by two sons, Robbie Clark of Spring Lake, North Carolina, and William “Billy” Clark of Jackson, Missouri; by two daughters, Kathy Strange of Spring Lake, North Carolina, and Melissa Sypherd of Phoenix, Arizona; by two brothers, Bill Whitaker of Somonauk, Illinois, Roger Whitaker of Dexter, Missouri; by seven sisters, Donna Skidmore of Wappapello, Missouri, Suzette "Sue" Hendrix of Batavia, Illinois, Carol Vincent of Dexter, Missouri, Clara Wiseman of Sikeston, Missouri, Robin Gregg of Dexter, Missouri, Helen Ward of Wappapello, Missouri, and Cheryl Cowart of Bloomfield, Missouri; and by eighteen grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cassandra “Sandy” McGowan, and by her brother, John Whitaker.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Dexter Cemetery.
