Dora Yvonne Carter, daughter of the late Robert Lee Wilcox and Thelma Lou Grayum Wilcox was born in Bernie, Missouri on January 5, 1944 and departed this life at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on January 9, 2025 at the age of 81.
Mrs. Carter had worked at International Hat Factory in Dexter, also at Media Press in Sikeston, Missouri. She attended Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Sikeston, Missouri; and was a resident of rural Dexter, Missouri. Mrs. Carter enjoyed Scrapbooking, Genealogy, Crocheting and spoiling her Grands.
She was united in marriage to Freeman Luke Carter in Bernie, Missouri on June 26, 1959. He preceded his wife in death on October 1, 1998.
Survivors include four sons, J.R. Carter & wife Marla of Bernie, David Matthew Carter of Godfrey, Illinois, Robert W. Carter & wife Christina of Union, Missouri, Rodney L. Carter & wife Joanna of Bernie, Missouri; by one daughter, Annette Davis & husband Jeff of Ellsinore, Missouri; by four sisters, Janice Elaine Wilcox of Highland, Illinois, Jeanette Rice of Kansas City, Missouri, Becky King & husband Danny of Dexter, Missouri and Debbie Patterson & Curt of Risco, Missouri; by numerous Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren and Great-Great-grandchildren; also by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death other than by her parents and her husband, by two grandchildren, Travis Carter and Summer Learue; by three sisters, Deloris Probst, Donna Sylvester, and Sharon Cullum.
Friends may call at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Monday morning, January 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel Monday, January 13, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM with Rev. John Tarter officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery. Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie is assisting with arrangements.
