The National Weather Service in Paducah, KY has issued a Flood Watch effective from 6 p.m. this evening through Sunday morning.

Portions of southern Illinois, including the following areas, Alexander, Edwards, Franklin, Hamilton, Union, Wabash, Wayne IL and Williamson and southeast Missouri, including the following areas, Mississippi, New Madrid, Scott and Stoddard

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM CST THIS EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING... WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, including the following areas, Alexander, Edwards, Franklin, Hamilton, Union, Wabash, Wayne IL and Williamson and southeast Missouri, including the following areas, Mississippi, New Madrid, Scott and Stoddard. WHEN...From 6 PM CST this evening through Sunday morning. IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Due to recent rounds of rain and thunderstorms, creeks and streams in the Flood Watch area are running high and soils are very saturated. A round of heavy rain and thunderstorms will move through the Flood Watch area tonight through Sunday morning, bringing rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2.5 inches, with locally higher totals over 3 inches possible. This heavy rain will lead to widespread nuisance flooding and isolated areas of flash flooding.
