Bloomfield School District Welcomes New Staff

It's always an exciting time to be a new employee at a school as they get a new classroom and meet all the student.  Bloomfield School District hired six new people this academic school year.

Kelby Hill will be teaching first grade, Tori Tharp will be teaching middle school and high school FACS, Maddy Ringer will be teaching fourth grade, Cameron Shipman will be over the Juvenile Classroom, Delaney Simmons will have the Refocus Room and Hayley Causey is the new high school secretary.

Bloomfield School Board Meets - Set Tax Rate, Approve Substitute Teacher List

Bloomfield School Board met and set the Tax Rate as well as approved Substitute Teaching list.

August tax rate hearing and board meeting notes.  

The tax rate hearing was held, and the board approved keeping the tax rate at $3.3600 as it has been previous years.  

The board approved:
* opening a new bank account to accept online payments through Teacher Ease for lunch account payments.  
*  Approved Full Maintenance Service Agreement with MSBA. 
*  Approved Special Education Local Compliance Plan. 
*  Approved Veregy for Project Coordination and Management.
*  Approved various district policies and procedures. 

The Board heard reports from all three building principals, and in my report I updated the Board on summer projects, discussed the Board provided lunch on Wednesday, gave the Board an update on the upcoming school year, and introduced the Board to Wayfinder.  Wayfinder will be a social emotional learning tool our counselors will utilize with students including a "portrait of a graduate" aspect that will be a great tool for our students.   

In executive session, the Board approved:
*  Substitute list
*  Resignation of Jacob McNeil from Fall Baseball Assistant Coach and Head Junior High Baseball Coach.  
*  Hired Dennis Graser as Fall Baseball
*  Discussed the addition of a School Resource Officer position

Notes from the Bloomfield Board of Education meeting held on July 8th, 2024.  

Approved the treasurer's report which included final fiscal year 2025 budget totals. 

Approved the 2024 tax rate hearing to be held before the August 12th board meeting at 5:45 pm.  

Approved the eligibility criteria for free/reduced priced meals. 

Approved the participation in the Child Adult Care Food Program for the 2024-25 school year.  This program will allow us to offer an after school snack for all students staying after school, free of charge to students.  We will discuss this at length when everyone is back on campus in August. 

Approved all building handbooks, as well as the 1:1 handbook, A+ handbook, Extra Curricular Handbook, Flex Program Handbook, and Alternative School Handbook.  

Approved, rescinded and discussed various policies and procedures. 
- GCPB - discussed options for amending this policy to identify penalties for being released from a contract after a deadline.  No action was taken, as I will gather more information. 
- JFCI & JFCI-AP1 - amendments were not approved at my recommendation.  Our current policy will stay as it is.  
- Approved recommended changes from MSBA to JFG, JG-R1, JHCD, JHCD-AP2, HA.
-  Rescinded HH

Approved the advertising for request for qualifications (RFQ) for project coordination and management.  

In my report, I gave an update on SB 190 being passed at the county level.  Updated the board on upcoming curriculum camps, as well as an update on our summer project list.  The board also set a date to provide lunch to all staff at one of the August in-service dates.  

The board did not take any action in Executive Session.

Bloomfield High School Senior Night Featuring Lauren Davis

The Bloomfield High School honored their seniors at the girls basketball game on Tuesday.  The  held a dedication ceremony before the varsity girls game between the Lady Wildcats vs the Puxico Lady Indians.

Lauren Davis is the daughter of Rebecca Davis.

She is a member of Student Council, Yearbook, Future Business Leaders of America, FCCLA, SR. Beta Club, Pep Club, and she serves as the Senior Class Vice President.

Her future plants are to attend college to become a veterinary technician.

Lauren's favorite high school memory was receiving her first incentive reward for coming to school and not missing a lot of days.

Her impact educator is Mrs. Emmie Watkins

Lauren said the following, "I chose Mrs. Watkins because she always makes sure I am where I need to be to excel and become successful in the future, she has become the teacher that she wished she had in school.  I can't imagine where I would be without her."

Bloomfield High School Senior Night Featuring Mollianne Dodd

She is a member of the volleyball team, basketball team, softball team, FCCLA, Sr. Beta Club, and Future Business Leaders of America.

Her future plans are to attend college and majoring in teaching in  early childhood education.

Mollianne's favorite high school memory is the Christmas Party the girls basketball team had at Mrs. Watkins house this year.

Her impact educator is Mrs. Lecia Dixon.

Mollianne said the following, "I chose Mrs. Dixon because she has been the sweetest, most loving teacher.  When I decided that I wanted to be a regional Officer for FCCLA she helped me step outside of my comfort zone and achieve my goal."
