In Memory of David Leroy Duffie

David Leroy Duffie son of the late Loyal Duffie and Marjorie Darter Duffie was born on November 15, 1949 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on August 9, 2024 at his residence in Lowndes, Missouri at the age of 74.


David was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star. He was of the Baptist faith and had worked as an over the road truck driver for WW Wood as well as Jim Gibson Trucking, he also worked as a farmer. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and horses and shooting pool and throwing darts with his big group of friends. He enjoyed being around people, especially his family. He also enjoyed being with his faithful companions, his dog Bubba and his cat, Bean.


He is survived by his children Keith Duffie and wife Nancy of Greenville, Tennessee, Tammy Johnson and husband Paul of Norwood, Massachusetts, and Kevin Duffie and wife Candi of Clarksville, Tennessee; by his brother Chris Darter of Van Buren, Missouri; by three sisters, Loyenna Burke of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Pat Burke and Sovonna Duff both of Van Buren, Missouri; by six grandchildren, Heith Duffie, Logan Duffie, Andreus Garrett, Devin Duffie, Ethan Duffie, and Elaina Johnson; and by one great-grandchild, Callum Duffie.


Other than by his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Jones.


Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will then be conducted on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter, Missouri. Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
