In Memory of Thomas Edward McLane Jr.

Thomas Edward McLane Jr. died May 31, 2024, in Charlevoix, Michigan.


Thomas was born in Puxico, Missouri on March 2, 1931, to Susie and Thomas Edward McLane Sr. and married Janet Alander McLane in 1956 in Flint, Michigan.


He is preceded in death by his parents and son, James Ernest McLane.  Tom is survived by his wife, Janet and sons, Ross (Jackie), Scott (Ann), Robert (Sara), John and Eric (Elizabeth). 


Fourteen grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.


Tom was a firefighter in Michigan with the Flint Fire Department for 35 years and served in the Marines. 


Graveside service will be held in Puxico, Missouri on June 12, at 1 at the Puxico Cemetery. 


Celebration of Life will be held August 16 in Puxico, Missouri. 


Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army of Flint, 211 W. Kearsley St., Flint, MI 48502.

In Memory of Brenda Lee Reazin

Brenda Lee Reazin, daughter of the late James Wade Jr. and Violet Mitchell Wade was born on February 15, 1979 in Festus, Missouri and departed this life on June 7, 2024 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 45.


Brenda was a certified med-tech and had been employed at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing in Dexter. She was a member of the Living Water Worship Center. She enjoyed to go fishing and shopping around yard sales.


She was united in marriage to Donald Reazin on December 8, 2012 in Bloomfield, Missouri. Mr. Reazin survives of their home in Dexter.


Other than by her husband she is survived by her son, Thomas Wade of Dexter, Missouri; by two brothers, Michael Wade of Sullivan, Missouri, and Randolph Wade of Dexter, Missouri; by her sister, Kathryn Spruell of Arnold, Missouri; by fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.


Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Wade III, and Robert Wade.


Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. A celebration of life service will be conducted at a later date. Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri is assisting the family with arrangements.

In Memory of Dewey Wayne Holmes

Dewey Wayne Holmes, son of the late William Henry Holmes and Cordie Lovelace Holmes, was born November 23, 1944, in Sikeston, Missouri and departed this life June 7, 2024, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri, at the age of 79 years.


Mr. Holmes worked as a lineman for SEMO Electric. He was a member of the United States Navy and attended Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter.


On September 23, 1965, in Sikeston Missouri, he was united in marriage to Carlois Mays. Mrs. Holmes survives of their home in Bloomfield.


Along with his wife, he is survived by his son, Dewey Holmes II of Bloomfield, Missouri; by his daughter, Tabatha (Butch) Gamache of Gulf Shores, Alabama; by his brother Donald Holmes of Sikeston, Missouri; by six grandchildren; and by sixteen great grandchildren.


Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katelyn Lang Gamache, by four brothers, and by two sisters.


A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, in Bloomfield, Missouri, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Lonny Mittag officiating.


Memorial Donations may be made to the St. Louis Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 500522, St. Louis, Missouri 63150; and to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38101.


Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.

In Memory of Cassandra “Sandy” McGowan

Cassandra “Sandy” McGowan, daughter of Lydia Clark of Dexter, Missouri and the late Robert E. Clark, was born on September 9, 1966, in Bowling Green, Kentucky and departed this life at her residence in Bernie, Missouri on June 6, 2024, at the age of 57.


Sandy had worked at Ames True Temper (IXL) in Bernie and was also a longtime cook at Little House restaurant in Bernie. She enjoyed coaching her girls in softball when they were younger, hunting for arrowheads, but ultimately spending time with her grandbabies brought her the most joy in life. She also enjoyed watching the live stream church services from Lighthouse Church and FBCCV in Cherokee Village, AR.


Other than by her mother, she is survived by her daughters, Kristine Gooch and husband Josh of Highland, Arkansas, and Miranda Blocker and husband, Cory of Dexter, Missouri; by three brothers, Robbie Clark of Spring Lake, North Carolina, William “Billy” Clark of Jackson, Missouri, and Sonny Hudson of Rolla, Missouri; by four sisters, Kathy Strange of Spring Lake, North Carolina, Melissa Sypherd of Phoenix, Arizona, Erica Hudson of Rolla, Missouri, and Laura Hudson of St. James, Missouri; and by five grandchildren, Isaac Gooch, Renly Gooch, Luke Blocker, Lawson Blocker, and Barrett Blocker.


She was preceded in death by her grandson, Myles Gooch; and by her biological father, Merrit “Sonny” Hudson.


Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri. Funeral services will then be conducted on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie, Missouri. Interment will follow at the Dexter cemetery.

In Memory of Clifford Burks

Clifford Burks, son of the late Samuel Burks and Iva Brown Burks, was born on June 26, 1931, in Holland, Missouri, and departed this life on June 4, 2024, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 92 years.


Mr. Burks was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean War. He was a former employee of the General Motors Truck Plant in Flint, Michigan. He was a resident of Dexter, Missouri, a member of Risen Church in Dexter and a deacon.


On November 25, 1953, in Campbell, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Griffin. Mrs. Burks preceded him in death on January 3, 2020.


He is survived by his son, Darwin Burks and wife Donna of Grand Blanc, Michigan; by two brothers, Odell Burks and Roy Burks both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; by his sister, Hazel Boedecker of Kalamazoo, Michigan; by five grandchildren, Dustin Burks and wife Courtney, Denise Olson, Danielle Visser and husband Shaun, Drew Burks, and Anthony Burks and wife Chelsea; by nine great-grandchildren, Daniel Olson, Dane Olson, Davis Olson, Danika Burks, Deker Burks, Audrey Burks, Brantley Burks, Esme Visser, and Sylvie Visser.


Other than by his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Burks; by two brothers, Thelbert Burks, and James Paul Burks; and by three sisters, Katherine Thurmond, Earline Cates, and Florence Steele.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
