In Memory of Larry Delay

Larry Delay, son of the late George Delay and Lorene Hobbs Delay, was born on December 13, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, and departed this life on May 13, 2024, at his residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 80 years.


Mr. Delay was a former member of the Missouri National Guard, and a former supervisor for Federal Mogul in Malden, Missouri. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved gardening and working in the yard.


Larry was a loving husband for 58 years, he was united in marriage to Carol Cox on August 28, 1965, in Circle City, Missouri. Mrs. Delay survives of their home in Dexter.


Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Angie Fischer and husband Jeff of Jackson, Missouri; by two brothers, George Delay of St. Louis, Missouri, and Don Delay of Marietta, Georgia; by two sisters, Loretta Stedman of Three Oaks, Michigan, and Carol Ann Sifford of California, Maryland; by six grandchildren, Taron Jordan of Dexter, Missouri, Coley Leimbach of St. Louis, Missouri, Brady Fischer of Jackson, Missouri, Logan Fischer of Kingsbay, Georgia, Matt Jordan of Springfield, Missouri, and Rusty Jordan of Springfield, Missouri; and by four great-grandchildren, Gabby, Liam, Harmony, and Rylan.


Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Delay and Jean Christian.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A memorial service will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Jamie Jones officiating.


Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.
