In Memory of Ed Pope Sr

Ed Pope Sr. was born on July 1, 1937, in Durant, Mississippi, and departed his life on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 86 years. He was the son of the late Floyd Allen Pope and Katherleen (Smith) Pope

He was the former owner and operator of C & E Grocery Store and C & E Auto Sales and Salvage in Dexter, Missouri. He was a licensed foster care provider and later became a residential home parent at the Stoddard County Children’s Home in Bloomfield. Ed was a Dexter resident for the majority of his life before residing in Wappapello for the last several years.

On March 5, 1955, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Elliott in Hernando, Mississippi.  Mrs. Pope survives of the home.

Besides his wife, survivors include three sons, Eddie (Tracey) Pope of Dexter, Bill Pope (Stephanie) of Dudley, and Kenny (Angela) Pope of Dexter; by one daughter, Desiree (Kent) Edwards of Dexter; by one sister, Kathy Evans of Kansas; 7 grandchildren, Dede Whitaker, Keith, Amanda and Andrew Edwards, Zach, Kenton, and Drexler Pope; 12 great-grandchildren, Chelsea Bennett, Abby, Gunner and Wyatt Powell, Laney, Ryder and Kensley Edwards, Trisha and Lexi Griffin, Anastasia and Charlie Pope, and MaryLynn Boyles; also, by other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, from noon until 2:00 PM at the Dexter First Assembly of God. Funeral services will then be conducted at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Dale Jones officiating.  Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Dexter First Assembly of God building fund, 911 Brown Pilot Lane, Dexter, Missouri 63841.
