Dorothy Sue Sides Joseph Mitchell, daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Sides and Effie Lee Payne Sides, was born in Yell County Arkansas on April 1, 1928, and departed this life January 21, 2024, at Morning Point Senior Living in Lenior City, Tennessee at the age of 95.
Dorothy Sue was a former resident of Dexter, Missouri. She had worked in a hat factory and shoe factory. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Dexter and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church (Vision of Hope) in Essex, Missouri. She loved reading, sewing, and gardening.
She married John H. Joseph on January 25, 1947, and they were married 51 years until the time of his passing. She then married Marion M. Mitchell on January 16, 1999, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by two children, Karen Sasson (Bob) of Kingston, Tennessee, and Terry Joseph (Angie) of Wappapello, Missouri; by two stepsons, Mike Mitchell, and Reed Mitchell (Joyce) of the state of Washington; by the loves of her life, six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews.
Other than her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Johnette Hurley; seven sisters; four brothers; and her best friend at Morning Point, Mary McClendon.
The family would like to thank the Morning Point caregivers, nurses and staff for their care and compassion. An additional thanks to the nurses and staff of Caris Healthcare and Hospice. Also, a special heartfelt thanks to Jamie Tuck and family for their support.
Friends may call at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on January 30, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Dexter Cemetery.
