Shirley Alvis, daughter of the late George Richards and Eula Mae Hatchel Carson, was born on January 30, 1938, in Marston, Missouri, and departed this life on December 13, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 85 years.

On October 19, 1977, in Decatur, Alabama, she was united in marriage to Hershel Alvis. Mr. Alvis preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Quinton Meredith (Lucy Marie Hernandez) of Copperas Cove, Texas; by her daughter, Betty Kreher (Willard); by her brother, Ronnie Carson of Bernie, Missouri; by three sisters, Jeanett Schmieg of Granite City, Illinois, Nora Fuemmeler of Rushville, Missouri, and Pam Gandt of Brownwood, Missouri; by five grandchildren, Ashley Meredith, Zachary Meredith, Eric Kreher (Stacey), Julia Brock (Scott), and Cassandra Range (Bruce); and by two great-grandchildren, Edward Kreher and Clayton Range.

Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Doyle Richard, Chester Richard, Glendale Richard, Robert Carson, Darrel Carson, and Roger Carson; and by her sister, Brenda Owens.
