Charles Dale Bell, son of the late Doy Walton Bell and Bernice Bowman Bell, was born on September 10, 1937, in Formosa, Arkansas, and departed this life on November 27, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 86 years.
Mr. Bell was a former river boat engineer for Southern Towing in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Dexter and was a resident of Dexter. He was a workaholic. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s school events, sporting events, and anything they were involved in.
On May 15, 1958, in Bloomfield, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Poe. Mrs. Bell survives of their home in Dexter.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his son, Greg Bell and wife Marty of Morley, Missouri; by his daughter, Tammy Prince and husband Bill of Corning, Arkansas, by two brothers, James Chester Bell and wife Jeanette of Sikeston, Missouri, and Kenneth Bell and wife Debbie of Dexter, Missouri; by his sister, Dorothy Bell Barnes of Portage, Michigan; by three grandchildren, Nicholas Bell and wife Adrian, Amanda Wilson and Jennifer Prince and husband Cory; and by seven great-grandchildren, Isaiah Bell, Jared Dodd, Bentley Dodd, Bryant Dodd, Ashlynn Prince-Jeffries and husband Chance, Alaina Prince, and Clayton Prince.
Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Steve Bell, Joe Tom Bell, and George Ellis Bell.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
