Betty Sue Garner Mayer, daughter of the late Morton LeBeau and Carrie Gray LeBeau was born on August 24, 1942, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on November 26, 2023, at her residence in Dexter at the age of 81.
Betty was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dexter. She had worked for what was formerly known as the Dexter Memorial Hospital as the administrative secretary. She taught piano and was the full-time pianist for the First Christian Church in Dexter and later played the organ for the First Christian Church’s in Poplar Bluff and Sikeston. Her life centered around her family, kids, and grandchildren. She was always doing and caring for others.
She was first united in marriage to Bill Garner on May 20, 1962, in Dexter, Missouri. Mr. Garner preceded her in death on April 2, 2009. On February 18, 2012, she was then married to Bob Mayer. Mr. Mayer preceded her in death on May 19, 2020.
She is survived by three daughters, Kaye Holder and husband Tim of Dexter, Missouri, Penny DuPerier of Perryville, Missouri and Ginger Cobb and husband Lonnie of Dexter, Missouri; by her brother, Phil LeBeau and wife Rita of Dexter, Missouri; by her grandchildren, Kristin Holder, Kelsey Holder, Zachary DuPerier and wife Madeline, William DuPerier, Megan DuPerier and husband Kristian Troen, Abigail Cobb Hicks and husband Ryan, Erika Cobb, Rachel Cobb, and Andrew Garner; by her great-grandchild, Freya Maeve DuPerier Troen; and by her special friend and caregiver, Eileen Robins of Advance, Missouri.
Other than by her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Garner; and her sister Rose Ellen Harper.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. A grave-side service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at the Armstead Dowdy cemetery in rural Dexter, Missouri with Bobby Garner officiating.

Joyce Ann Palmer, daughter of Frank Carson and Patricia Washburn Carson of Bloomfield, Missouri, was born on June 28, 1962, in Sikeston, Missouri, and departed this life on November 23, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 61 years.
Mrs. Palmer was a minister at Bountiful Harvest Church in Bloomfield, Missouri and she was a resident of Bloomfield.
On June 15, 1994, in Piggott, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Larry Palmer. Mr. Palmer survives of their home in Bloomfield.
Along with her husband and parents, she is survived by her son Marvin Briscoe and wife Nichole of Newburgh, Indiana; by two daughters, Cyndi Wilson and husband Scott of Malden, Missouri, and Christina Smith and husband Brian of Dexter, Missouri; by her brother, Jason Carson; by her nephew, Severin Carson; and by nine grandchildren, Jaycob Briscoe, Jordan Briscoe, Aiden Briscoe, Tristan Poston, Tyson Poston, Harley Smith, Jocelyn Miller, Isaac Wilson, and Hannah Wilson; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Shana Briscoe, and Melissa Briscoe.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with Diana Barnes officiating. Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.

Maria Ellen “Mary” Cobb, daughter of the late Miguel Trevino and Louise Aldaco, was born on August 4, 1949, in Crystal City, Texas, and departed this life on November 22, 2023, at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 74 years.
Mrs. Cobb was a former employee of Vintage Villa Nursing Home in Dexter, Missouri and she was a resident of Malden, Missouri. She was an avid gardener.
On June 15, 1966, in Bloomfield, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Jerry Cobb. Mr. Cobb survives of their home in Malden.
Along with her husband, she is survived by two sons, Lee Cobb of Malden, Missouri, and John Cobb of Doniphan, Missouri; by her daughter, Teresa Cobb of Malden, Missouri; by her brother, Miguel Trevino of St. Louis, Missouri; and by eighteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rosie Terrill.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at New Beginnings Christian Outreach in Malden, Missouri on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Ricky Williams officiating.

James Chism, son of the late Thelmo Chism and Imogene Springs Chism, was born on October 1, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, and departed this life on November 21, 2023, at his residence in Wappapello, Missouri, at the age of 70 years.
Mr. Chism was a Veteran of the Missouri National Guard and he worked for Dumey Construction until 2005. He was a member of the Wappapello CrappieClub and Bass Club.
On May 27, 2005, in Greenville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Sharon Ward. James and Sharon remarried in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 4, 2021. Mrs. Chism survives of their home in Wappapello.
Along with his wife, Sharon, he is survived by two sons, Heath Chism of North Carolina, and Andy Chism and wife Amanda of Bloomfield, Missouri; by two step-sons, Michael Hicks of Bloomfield, Missouri and Shawn Stevens of Sikeston, Missouri; by two step-daughters, Shawna Suggs of Wappapello, Missouri and Jennifer Mattison and husband Shawn of Jacksonville, Florida; by his brother Chuck Chism and wife Opal of Wappapello, Missouri; by his sister, Debbie Snider and husband Jeff of Dexter, Missouri; ande by eleven grandchildren, Conner, Sylas, Kyler, Zeke, Maggie, Elijah, Ben, Chelsey, Andy, Bella, and Taylor.
Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Chism, and by his sister, Sandra Hill.

Madge Christine Strickland, daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Shemwell and Cinda Lucille Raines Shemwell, was born on March 16, 1933, in Lilbourn, Missouri, and departed this life on November 20, 2023, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 90 years.
Mrs. Strickland was a homemaker. She attended Harvest Assembly of God Church in Essex, Missouri, and was a resident of Essex.
On May 14, 1955, in Lilbourn, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Doyle Strickland. Mr. Strickland preceded her in death on February 14, 1996.
She is survived by two sons, Doyle Strickland and fiancé Patricia Mitchell of Essex, Missouri, and Walter Strickland and wife Barbara of Essex, Missouri; by her daughter, Dorothy Collins and husband Steve of Morehouse, Missouri; by her sister, Ruth Middleton of Sikeston, Missouri; by her special caregiver, Stacy Mitchell; and by seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vera McDaniel.
