Jerry S. Garner, son of the late Lee Oral Garner and Bertha Marie Mims Garner, was born on December 21, 1945, in Borseley, Missouri, and departed this life on September 11, 2023, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas at the age of 77 years.
Mr. Garner was a Veterans of the United States Army and a 1963 graduate of Dexter High School in Dexter, Missouri. He was a former Illinois State Trooper and a former police office for the City of Dexter, Missouri. Also, he had worked in financial management. Jerry lived his life the way he wanted to. He enjoyed traveling and seeing the country, and he loved his family.
He is survived by his son, Jared (Maria) Garner of Eaton, Colorado; by two daughters, Robin (Steve) Foreman of Altus, Oklahoma, and Sheri (Larry) Bumgardner of Dawson, Illinois; by two brothers, Dale (Linda) Garner of Shannon, Mississippi, and Dennis (Linda) Garner of Flint, Michigan; by four grandchildren, Steven (Monique) Foreman of Harrah, Oklahoma, Richard (Becca) Foreman of Altus, Oklahoma, Austin Spainhour and Alex Spainhour both of Springfield Illinois; and by three great grandchildren, RJ Foreman, Trevor Foreman, and Zoe Trout.
Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Oral Lee Garner and by his sister, Delores Garner.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will follow in the Browns Chapel Cemetery in Broseley, Missouri.
