In Memory of Sandra McWaters

Sandra McWaters, daughter of the late Cecil Houston Hewitt and Delberta Tate Snider, was born on February 4, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and departed this life on September 7, 2023, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 79 years.


Mrs. McWaters was the former owner of a furniture business in Paducah, Kentucky, had served on the Ringwood, Oklahoma City Council, and was a resident of Jackson, Missouri. She was an artist and enjoyed painting and teaching art classes.


She was united in marriage to William E. “Bill” Cryts on December 4, 1963, in Hunterville, Missouri and to this union three children were born. On November 28, 1992, she was united in marriage to Ollie McWaters. Mr. McWaters preceded her in death on September 27, 2017.


She is survived by two sons, Tyler Cryts and wife Dee Dee of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, and Monte Cryts of Paducah, Kentucky; by her daughter, Crystal Kaye Barker and husband Rodney of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; by her sister, Linda Smith of Dexter, Missouri; and by three grandchildren, Weston Barker, Alexis Cryts, and Natalie Cryts.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, September 11, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Joe Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.


Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.
