In Memory of Douglas Dwight Stallings Sr

Douglas Dwight Stallings Sr., son of the late Levy Stallings and Hattie Putney Stallings, was born on July 28, 1949 in Kenly, North Carolina and departed this life on June 23, 2023 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 73.


Mr. Stallings was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp and served in Vietnam. After his service in Vietnam he was awarded the Purple Heart due to injuries he sustained during the war. He was a member of the Dexter Elks Lodge and the Poplar Bluff Eagles. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW.


In September of 1987 he was united in marriage to Louise Bone in Dexter, Missouri. Mrs. Stallings survives at their home in Dexter.


Other than his wife, he is survived by two sons, Douglas Stallings Jr and wife Sandra of West Monroe, Louisiana, and Chad Stallings and wife Billiejean of Fulton, Missouri; by one daughter, Jenny Brown and husband Mike of Dexter, Missouri; by one step-son, Doyle Fulkerson II of Dexter, Missouri; by fifteen grandchildren, Patrick, Lindsey, Christin, Hannah, Stacy, Chad, Destiny, Kerigan, Gabrielle, Emily, C.J., Bradley, Liam, Kristin, and Christopher; by ten great-grandchildren; and many brothers and sisters.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one step-son, David Shelden; and by one sister.


Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.


Funeral services will then be conducted on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. in the Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ray Rowland officiating.


Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
