Franklin D. King, son of the late Thomas Jefferson King and Stella Banks Carter King, was born in East Prairie, Missouri and departed this life on April 17, 2023, at his home surrounded by family.
Mr. Frank served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960 where he was stationed in Germany and served as a cook. On September 21, 1962, he married Treva Doris Bradley. They were married for 54 years until the time of her death on May 7, 2016.
He worked an abundance of jobs throughout his life. He could do anything he set his mind too. He loved gospel music and travelled with his family with the Gospel Sounds for years.
He is survived by one son, Joey King and wife Cheryle of East Prairie; two grandsons, Shelby (Alex) King of Memphis, TN and Shawn (Ronni) King of St. Louis, Missouri. He was proudly awaiting the arrival of his first great-granddaughter, Zoey Jade King; Cousin Howard Banks.; host of nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife, Frank was preceded in death by three brothers, Desmond Carter, John (Louise) Carter and Kenneth (Betty Carter Archie); one sister, Pauline Hester.
Visitation will be held at the Church of God in East Prairie on Friday April 21, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Larry Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Ellis, Steve Ellis, Kevin Stockman, Reid McMinn, Robert Crosier and Aaron Harland.
