In Memory of Madison Robertson

Madison Robertson, 23 years, 3 months, and 4 days old, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Madison was born December 28, 1999, in Springfield, Missouri to Teddy Joe Robertson Jr. of Dexter, Missouri and Ashley Dodson, of Sikeston, Missouri.

Madison who was known by most as Madi, was deeply loved by all who knew her. She was so kind and warm that you could not help but smile whenever you were around her. Her witty remarks and infectious smile light up the room. Her compassionate soul meant she never passed a stray animal without finding them the perfect home or keeping them for herself. Her most precious possession was her beloved black Labrador, Zeus. Being a “Dog Momma” was her most prized title.

Madi attended Lee University and was on her way to Southeast Missouri State University to complete her degree in Speech Pathology. Madi was a wonderful creative writer and had a published story. She enjoyed being with family and friends, was a self-trained make-up artist, loved Grey’s Anatomy, trying new recipes for the whole family to enjoy, music concerts, and online shopping.

Madi leaves to cherish her loving memory are her parents; two brothers Jordan Dodson of Dexter and Charlie Meese of Greenville, one sister Aliyah Rojas of Risco; paternal grandparents Sharon Robertson of Dexter and Ted Robertson Sr. of Jefferson City, maternal grandparent Susan Swinford of Malden; paternal aunt Angela Robertson-Turner (Kyle) of North Carolina; maternal uncle Dale Dodson of Essex and maternal aunt Carrie Dodson of Malden; multiple cousins Payten, Sophia, and Hunter Turner of North Carolina, Colton, Morgan, and Kaden Dodson of Sikeston, Savannah Smith and Trey Cunningham of Malden; great aunt Linda Winder (Nana) of Dexter; along with innumerable others of her beloved large family.

Visitation was held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Tuesday April 4, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A memorial service was conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Lonny Mittag, Lead Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri.

In honor of Madi’s profound love of animals, please consider a donation to the Dexter Animal Shelter at 601 East Grant St, Dexter, Missouri.

Madi was the sunshine of our family, and we will miss her more than words can convey!
