In Memory of Doyle Edward Holifield

Doyle Edward Holifield, son of the late Thomas Holifield and Verna Cole Holifield, was born on September 4, 1941, in Pollard, Arkansas, and departed this life on March 22, 2023, at his residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 81 years.

Mr. Holifield was a former regional vice president for Super Town & Country Grocers. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, Missouri, and the Dexter Elks Lodge #2439.

On May 3, 1997, in Milan, Tennessee, he was united in marriage to Audrey Hamlin. Mrs. Holifield survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Mark Holifield (Thy) of Jackson, Tennessee, John Holifield (Sherri) of Dexter, Missouri, and Matthew Holifield of Nashville, Tennessee; by two step-sons, Bruce Hamlin of Nashville, Tennessee, and Ryan Hamlin of Jonesboro, Arkansas; by his step-daughter, Bethany Peralta (Gabriel) of Loveland, Ohio; by his brother, Donnie Holifield of Pollard, Arkansas; by six grandchildren, Sydni Holifield, Michael Holifield, Hanna Holifield, Ryan Holifield, Kara Hardin, and Laken Willis; and by four step-grandchildren, Camden Hamlin, Addy Hamlin, Sofia Peralta, and Harlynn Robertson.

Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Holifield, Lee Holifield, and Lonnie Holifield.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will follow in the Cummins Chapel Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas.

In Memory of Terry Ray Kitchens

Terry Ray Kitchens, son of Billy Joe Kitchens and Joyce Allstun Kitchens, was born on September 24, 1965 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and departed this life on March 21, 2023, at his residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 57 years.

Mr. Kitchens was an employee of the Stoddard County Sheltered Workshop in Dexter, Missouri, from 1982 to 2020, serving for 38 years. Terry was a 1984 graduate of Dexter High School, a member of the Dexter Church of Christ, and a lifelong resident of Dexter. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and was a big supporter of the Dexter Bearcats. He enjoyed watching his nieces play volleyball for the Bearcats and attending church every Sunday.

He is survived by his parents, Bill and Joyce Kitchens of Dexter, Missouri, by his sister, Regina Brown and husband Johnny of Dexter, Missouri; by three nieces, Nikki Brown and husband Kevin of Junction City, Kansas, Ashley Cummins and husband Tyler of Chaffee, Missouri, and Brittany Vaughan and husband Chase of Jackson, Missouri; by three great-nieces, Gabby Brown, Brandie Brown, and Madi Brown; by three great-nephews, Cooper Vaughan, Connor Cummins, and Grayson Cummins; by one great niece or nephew Vaughan on the way; by his aunt, Marla Bailey of Dexter, Missouri; by his aunt and uncle, Charles and Pauline McBride of Dexter, Missouri; and by many cousins and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother Larry Kitchens; by his uncle, Richard Bailey; by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Norma McBride, and Hughey Kitchens; and by his maternal grandparents, Lorn and Marie Allstun.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted at the Dexter Church of Christ on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

In Memory  of Michael Larry Rehm

Michael Larry Rehm, son of the late George Larry Rehm and Phyllis Shell Rehm, was born on February 27, 1964, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and departed this life on March 19, 2023 at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 59 years.

Mr. Rehm was the former owner of a car lot. He enjoyed riding horses, roping, funny movies, and home cooking. His greatest joy was loving and laughing with his family and closest friends. He wanted everyday to be a fun celebration of life. He loved making people smile with his quick wit and humor. He always looked forward to a good meal with his family and some good ole’ country music.

He is survived by two nieces, Erin (Larry) Brown and Lauren Thorne all of Dexter Missouri; and by seven great nieces and nephews, Alexandra (Levi) Diebold, Conner Tres Hampton, Gracen Camille Hampton, Caleb Thorne, Weston Thorne, Olivia Calcagno, and E.J. Tucker.

Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Poepplemeyer and by his sister, Lisa Ayers.

Michael’s family would like to give special appreciation to his Cypress Point family for the many ways they showed him extra love and went above and beyond for him and his family daily for the past decade.

A Reception Celebrating his life will be held at the Hickory Log in Dexter on Monday, March 27, 2023, drop-in from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Chester Roy Stafford, son of the late Willard Stafford and Vada Dale Stafford, was born on August 17, 1946, in Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life on March 19, 2023, at Southeast Health of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 76 years.

Rev. Stafford was a minister, a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Sikeston, Missouri, and resident of Dexter.

On May 11, 1968, in Essex, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Miller. Mrs. Stafford preceded him in death on August 26, 2021.

He is survived by two sons, Kevin Stafford (Kimberly Bolin) of Dexter, Missouri, and Tony Stafford of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; by two grandchildren, Drew Stafford and Megan Stafford, and by three great-grandchildren, McKinlee Stafford, Abreigh Stafford, and Mia Stafford.

Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Vaughn Stafford, Tom Stafford, Houston Stafford, Dean Stafford, and Willie Stafford; and by three sisters, Marie Kimball, Inez Stafford, and Faye Little.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Hatchel was a Veteran of the United States Army and a former truck driver.

Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Perry Hatchel, Terry Hatchel, Bud Hatchel, and Louis Hatchel; and by seven sisters, Emogene Hodge, Eula Mae Carson, Violetta Minton, Dorothy Richards, Mable Hudgens, Velta Lacy, and Geraldine Hatchel.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 6:00 p.m.
