In Memory of Don Varble Daniel

Don Varble Daniel, son of the late Dallas Daniel and Willena Sielert Daniel, was born December 22, 1940, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and departed this life on February 19, 2023, at Winchester Nursing Center in Bernie, Missouri, at the age of 82 years.

Mr. Daniel was a Veteran of the Missouri National Guard, retiring as a Master Sergeant. In 1967, he began working for Missouri Utilities, then Union Electric, and finally Ameren UE before retiring in 2003 as a trouble man and journey lineman. He was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dexter, Missouri and a resident of Essex, Missouri. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

On June 6, 1964, in Essex, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Donna Kay Baker. Mrs. Daniel survives of their home in Essex.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter-in-law, Laura Daniel of Dexter, Missouri; by four grandchildren, Clayton Daniel and wife Brooke, Colton Summers, Chelsie Eaton and husband Ben, and Breanna Shelton; by six great-grandchildren, Dayton Daniel, Averie Daniel, Alesia Bailey and husband Ridley, Carter Eaton, Lily Eaton, and Paisley Stinson; and by his great-great grandson, Raymond Bailey.

Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ross Daniel; by his daughter, Latricia Summers; and by his brother, L J Daniel.

Graveside services will be held at Old Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dwight Hensley officiating.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.
