In Memory of Maudie Adele (House) Benton

Maudie Adele (House) Benton, 90 of Bloomfield passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at her winter home in Ft. Meyers Florida.

The daughter of Georgia “Annie” Beaton and David House, she was born November 15, 1932 near Como

Missouri, the twelfth child born to Annie and David House.

Maudie worked from a very young age in a Malden grocery store. She met her future husband, who attended Risco schools, at their church in Malden. They were married December 4,1950 in Piggott Arkansas.

As the wife of a farmer, Maudie learned to milk a cow, drive a tractor and grain trucks while caring for a house, garden and children, helping on the farm during planting, cultivating and harvest seasons and occasionally helping out at a grocery store during the winter for the grocers for whom she worked as a youngster.

She retired from Federal Mogul as a Quality Control Inspector after more than 20 years of service. Her keen eye for details had customers requesting her as final inspector for their aircraft pistons. An almost photographic eye for color and her skills sewing enabled her to create stylish and unique clothing for her daughters culminating in a beautiful and unique bridal gown and veil for each daughter that was inspired by gowns in bridal magazines of the times. Their gowns and veils could have been mistaken for gowns in the magazines.

Maudie always put her children before herself and they knew they could always count on her, although that also meant she still expected them to behave and do their chores.

In addition to her husband of 72 years, Huel Benton Jr., Maudie is survived by three children, Adelia “Jeanne” Barham of Bloomfield, Beverly “Kay” (Ralph) Ziegler of Cape Girardeau, and Huel Benton III of Surprise, Arizona.

Five grandchildren also survive, James “Jamie” (Jenny) Machen of Providence, Kentucky, Kristal Benton, Tiffany Benton and Brittany Benton of Phoenix Arizona and Patrick (Lisa) Barham of Bedford. Ohio.

Also surviving are great grandchildren Gage Machen, Jenna Machen and Corban Machen of Kentucky, Noah Benton and Ava Benton of Arizona, Gabrielle “Gabby” Barham of Springfield, and Jayden Barham of Ohio.

Besides her parents, Maudie was preceded in death by eleven siblings, Clara Ethel House, Ruth Marie House and Esther Nadine House, all three passing in infancy, Mary Loughary, Hannah Baker, Eugene “Gene” House, Minnie Baker McGuire, Sidney House, Lucille McElrath, Elton House, Thomas House, and by two great grandsons.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden, Missouri, services will begin at 1 p.m., with Reverend James Hamlett officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, Missouri.

Landess Funeral Home and Crematory of Malden will be in charge of the arrangements.

In Memory of Jo Carolyn Flowers-Noe

In Memory of Jo Carolyn Flowers-Noe

Jo Carolyn Flowers-Noe forever put cancer behind her on February 8th, 2023. She beat the disease for her final time at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in the comfort and care of her loving husband, Jonas. Her strong will, and devotion to her family provided her with the strength to fight a long, valiant battle with this disease. But now she can rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior in Heaven.

Jo Carolyn was born to William Joseph Flowers and Carolyn Jeannine Flowers on March 30th, 1969 in Kennett, Mo. That day marked the birth of one of the most strong-willed and sometimes hard headed person we would ever know. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother and always put her family first. Her passion for her career in long-term care was something one could only hope to have in their line of work. She worked in every job possible in a nursing home until she reached her ultimate position as Director of Operations for the entire Southeast MO region. She worked in long-term care for 32 years up until she departed this life. She was a problem-solver, wonderful boss, and above all a great co-worker for anyone blessed with the opportunity.

Jo Carolyn was the matriarch of a large and growing family and handled the title better than anyone could ever imagine. Her family began when she was united in marriage to her husband, Jonas Bartley Noe, on November 21st, 1990. They were then blessed with 3 children: Mason, Chase, and Hannah. Jo put all her heart into her family and raising her children, and always pushed them to be the best they could be in every endeavor they took on. She never missed an event, ballgame, or ceremony they were part of and was always the loudest in the crowd to cheer on their accomplishments. She was fierce and tenacious when it came to her family, but most of all loving. Later in life, she became Grandma JoJo to grandchildren: Makai, Colben, Madden, and Collins Elizabeth. She was the most loving and caring grandmother and loved everyone of them exponentially.

Jo Carolyn was the consummate family woman and always willing to help anyone in need. She would never hesitate to go out of her way to provide for others and always made everyone feel welcome in her home. She was a mother to 3 of her own, but was like a second mother to more of her kid’s friends than one could count. She was the best voice of reason and always had the answers for life’s problems. She will be dearly missed by many.

She is survived by her husband: Jonas; sons Mason (Taylor), Chase (Caitlyn), and Blaren; daughter Hannah (Lane); grandchildren, Makai Patrick, Colben Chase, Madden Monroe, and Collins Elizabeth; brother Bj Flowers; sisters Judi and Kim Flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Jeannine and her baby sister, Kasi.

Jo Carolyn’s visitation for friends and family will be held February 12th, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, Mo. and she will ultimately be laid to rest on February 13th, 2023 with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park Cemetery in Advance.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests family and friends to instead donate money to one of Jo’s favorite philanthropy organizations, St. Jude’s Children Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. She was a consistent donor to this organization and it was something she was very passionate about.
