James “Jim” Horner, son of the late Charles Horner and Gertrude Rodery Horner, was born on March 10, 1929, in Arbyrd, Missouri, and departed this life on January 12, 2023, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 93 years.
Mr. Horner was a former employee of Bud Shell Ford in Dexter, Missouri. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter and a resident of Dexter. He enjoyed tinkering with lawn mowers and cars and in his younger years he built houses.
In 1950, in West Branch, Michigan, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Dack.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Marjorie Horner of Dexter; by two daughters, Patti Bishop and husband Dean of Dexter, and Pam Chamberlain of Dexter; by his daughter-in-law, Gwen Horner of Poplar Bluff; by six grandchildren, Shayne Horner, Jamee Gaines, Beau Bishop, Megan Wilson, Brock Chamberlain, and Kurt Chamberlain; and by several great-grandchildren.
Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Horner; by his brother C J Horner; and by three sisters, Dorothy Bickerstaff, Louise England, and Betty Meridith.
A memorial service will be held at Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
