In Memory of Betty Lucille Massey

Betty Lucille Massey of Dexter, Missouri, daughter of the late Haud Ellis Dunning and Francis Gladys (Matthews) Dunning was born on March 21, 1935, in Sikeston, Missouri, and  went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2023,  in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 87 years. 

She lived in the Essex and Dexter area her entire life. Betty was a member of Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri.  

Betty enjoyed crocheting, seek and find books, reading her Bibles, she loved to draw, and picking up pecans.  The most precious time was spending with her family when she could. 

Betty is survived by three sons, Gary (Patty) Massey of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, David (Dorothy) Massey of Campbell, Missouri, and Johnny (Tina) Massey, Jr. of Bernie, Missouri; one daughter, Janet Martin of Campbell, Missouri; one brother, John (Dorothy) Dunning of Lodi, Wisconsin; one sister, Gracie Jones of Trinity, Alabama; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; life long dear friends, Marty Starnes, Jessica Starnes, Jack and Lydia Penberthy, as well as a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Massey, Sr.; one son-in-law, Ronnie Martin, Sr.; two grandsons, William Massey and Stanley Summers; one sister, Dolly (Bobbie) Jackson;  one niece, Starla Kay Mairs. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral Services will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Ray Rowland of Dexter, Missouri, officiating with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.

Interment will follow at Morgan Memorial Park Cemetery in Advance, Missouri.
