Betty Lucille Massey of Dexter, Missouri, daughter of the late Haud Ellis Dunning and Francis Gladys (Matthews) Dunning was born on March 21, 1935, in Sikeston, Missouri, and went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2023, in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 87 years.
She lived in the Essex and Dexter area her entire life. Betty was a member of Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri.
Betty enjoyed crocheting, seek and find books, reading her Bibles, she loved to draw, and picking up pecans. The most precious time was spending with her family when she could.
Betty is survived by three sons, Gary (Patty) Massey of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, David (Dorothy) Massey of Campbell, Missouri, and Johnny (Tina) Massey, Jr. of Bernie, Missouri; one daughter, Janet Martin of Campbell, Missouri; one brother, John (Dorothy) Dunning of Lodi, Wisconsin; one sister, Gracie Jones of Trinity, Alabama; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; life long dear friends, Marty Starnes, Jessica Starnes, Jack and Lydia Penberthy, as well as a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Massey, Sr.; one son-in-law, Ronnie Martin, Sr.; two grandsons, William Massey and Stanley Summers; one sister, Dolly (Bobbie) Jackson; one niece, Starla Kay Mairs.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral Services will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Ray Rowland of Dexter, Missouri, officiating with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.
Interment will follow at Morgan Memorial Park Cemetery in Advance, Missouri.
Floyd Bell, age 85, of Broseley, MO walked through Heaven’s gates on Monday, January 9, 2023 at his residence in Broseley, MO, surrounded by family. Mr. Bell was born December 22, 1937, in Neelyville, MO, son of the late Charles G. Bell and Eva Toole. He attended Fisk High School and was a life long Twin Rivers Royals fan. He served in the National Guard and United States Army where he was stationed in Korea. On August 31, 1963 he married the love of his life, Myrna Sue Acre. He was a lifelong member of Black River General Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. In addition to his love for the Lord, Floyd treasured his family and considered them his greatest accomplishments in life. He was an avid sports fan. He was likely to be found in a gym or ball field, cheering on not only his grandchildren, but all young athletes of the community. Floyd also enjoyed bass and crappie fishing with his mother and his twin brother. He always looked forward to the annual family fishing trip on Norfork Lake.
Floyd is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years: Myrna Sue; three children: Trendall and Lisa Bell, Shelly & Randy Hester, and Marla Jo and Jason Lance;10 grandchildren: Chad and Jamyle Bell, Stephanie and Raymond Webb, Summer and Brian Shipman, Nikki and Dustin Reece, Landon and Allison Ham, Devin and Bailey Hester, Sydni and Kaleb Berrong, Logan Ham, Karson Ham, and Matthew Hendrix; 11 great-grandchildren: Evyn and Nelson Webb, Chadyn and Weston Bell, Kennedy, Connor, and Marni Ray, Ace and Hank Luecke, and Benjamin and Gideon Ham. Other survivors include 1 brother and 4 sisters: Lloyd Bell (Jeanne), Jane Parker, Shirley Eddy (Don), Gloria Sue Martin, Roxey Roberts (Larry); and 1 sister in law: Peggy McDonald (Gary). In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one grandson: Byron Bell, and 5 siblings: Mary Snook, Larry Bell, Betty Nelson, Berniece West, and Linda Faye Bell.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev Jim Sanders and Rev. Wayne Burchett officiating.
Burial will be at Shain Memorial Cemetery in Fisk with full military honors.
Beatrice Perkins of Dexter, Missouri, daughter of the late Alex Maynard and Rosabelle (Askabram) Maynard was born on November 1, 1926, in Yarbro, Arkansas, and passed from this life on January 6, 2023, in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 96 years.
She lived in the Dexter area the majority of her life. Beatrice attended the Church of Christ. Beatrice loved gardening, liked to farm, flowers and loved to antique, and loved shopping at Macy's Department Store.
Beatrice was married to Leonard Leon Perkins on December 27, 1944, in Manilla, Arkansas, and remained married to him until his passing.
Beatrice was a LPN and worked in the medical field until the time of her retirement.
Beatrice is survived by one nephew, Michael Bridges of Morro Bay, California, as well as a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and four sisters.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023, 11:30 A.M. at the Watkins And Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter, Missouri.
Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins And Sons Funeral in charge of all arrangements.
Charles Leroy Myers, son of the late John Richard Myers and Ruby Burke Myers, was born on June 10, 1947, in Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life on January 10, 2023, at his residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 75 years.
Mr. Myers was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a former employee of Dexter Ag in Dexter, Missouri. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he loved playing with his grandchildren.
On February 5, 1988, in Dexter, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Barbara McIntyre. Mrs. Myers survives of their home in Dexter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Paul Umfleet of Hayti, Missouri, and Kevin Umfleet of Delphos, Ohio; by his daughter, Tonya Myers Braden of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; by two sisters, Ruth Morgan of Dexter, Missouri, and Carolyn Sue Davis of Bloomfield, Missouri; by eight grandchildren, Tyler Carillo, Skylar Travis, Dustin Braden, Dalton Umfleet, Jordann Hamami, Katie Lovell and husband Layton, Justin Umfleet and wife Shelbie, and Kyla Davis; and by six great-grandchildren, Javian, Asher, Roman, August, Brylee, and Arlow.
Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John R. Myers Jr., Marion “Bud” Myers, and James Dale Myers; by his sister, Dora Ann May; by his son-in-law, Eric Braden; and by two great-grandchildren, Bryson Umfleet, and Averleigh Umfleet.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, January 12, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Rick Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
