Earnest Earl Young, son of the late James Arthur Young and Mattie Mae Tankersley Young, was born on August 11, 1923, in Clines Island, Missouri, and departed this life on December 7, 2022, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 99 years.
Mr. Young was a former real estate broker and owner of Young Realty. He was a charter member of the Stoddard County Board of Real Estate, and he was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Dexter. Earl was very much a man of God. He enjoyed working in his workshop, tinkering with clocks, building, and repairing things. He loved going to garage sales and camping.
On June 28, 1942, in Dexter, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Neva Jane Causbie.
He is survived by his wife of 80 years, Neva Young of Dexter, Missouri; by three sons, Earl “Speedy” Young and wife Rosemarie of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Chris Young and wife Lisa of Destrehan, Louisiana, and Mike Young and wife Jackie of Paulina, Louisiana; by his daughter-in-law, Carol Young of Dexter, Missouri; and by twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Young; by four brothers, Elbert Young, James Young, William Clayton Young, and Harold Young; and by two sisters, Bessie Vanbibber and Nellie Williams.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ken Harper officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter cemetery.
