The City of Puxico Has Placed a Proposition on the November 8th Ballot

The City of Puxico has placed a proposition on the November 8, 2022, ballot.  This proposition if approved will make the position of city collector an appointed position rather than an elected position.

The Puxico Board of Aldermen feel that by making the position of city collector an appointed position, it will have a broader list of prospective applicants with the necessary skills to choose from if the position becomes vacant at any time.

At this time, because city collector is an elected position, a person must run for the office every four years.  In order to run, the person must live within the city limits and must have lived in Puxico for at least a year before he or she can fill out the paperwork to run for office.  This limits who can be city collector.

If the voters of the City of Puxico vote “yes” on the City’s Proposition No. 1, it will make the position of city collector an appointed job.  This proposition will be found on the back side of the November ballot at the bottom of constitutional amendments.  It will appear only on those ballots given to city resident voters.
