In Memory of Alice Marie Bryant

Alice Marie Bryant of Essex, Missouri, born on February 22, 1963 in Parma, Missouri and passed from this life on August 22, 2022 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 59 years.  

She lived in Stoddard County, Missouri for most of her life. Alice was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Parma, Missouri. She really enjoyed playing bingo, spending time with friends and family, especially her grandbabies.     

 Alice is survived by one son Sonny Isaiah (Ashley) Dennis of Jackson, Missouri; her mother Mable (L.C.) Jacobs of Sikeston, Missouri; one brother C.C. Jacobs of Sikeston, Missouri; three sisters Lillie Clark of Pinermon, Missouri; Renee Austin of Portland, Oregon; Angela Wright of Gary, Indiana: 5 grand kids Reagan, Keegan, Kiarra, Tyson and Kayson;  A host of family and friends also survive.

Alice was preceded in death by her father Amos Austin; one brother Amos Austin Jr.   

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday September 2, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Reverend Melvin Williams of East Prairie, Missouri officiating and Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.

Interment will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

In Memory of Merlyn Ceylon Cummings

Merlyn Ceylon Cummings of Cape Girardeau, Missouri daughter of the late Floyd and Cora (Beal) Clinton was  born on April 14, 1938 in Puxico, Missouri and passed away on August 25, 2022 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 84.

Merlyn lived in the Southeast Missouri area the majority of her life where she worked in the food service industry as a restaurant owner until her retirement in 1988. Merlyn also lived in Fairview, Missouri. Her favorite pastime was cooking and spending time with family and friends.  Merlyn was a member of the Puxico First Baptist Church. 

Merlyn is survived by two sons; William David (Cynthia) Richard of St. Louis Missouri: Danny Paul (Janice) Richard of Fenton, Missouri; Two brothers; Ronnie  Clinton of Puxico, Missouri: Douglas  Clinton of Senath, Missouri; three sisters Melba Bell of Advance, Missouri; Phyllis  Peterson of Farwell, Minnesota; Shirley Duer of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; three grandchildren Matthew William (Christy) Richard of Denver, Colorado; Stacy Lynn (Ed) Wanner of Ballwin, Missouri; Jacqueline Anne Richard of St. Louis, Missouri; one great grandson Edward Wanner. A host of family, church family and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents;  one brother Wendell Clinton; two sisters Bonnie June Clinton and Eloise Young.  

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri with Pastor Douglas and Brother Ronnie Clinton officiating and Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.

Interment will follow at Duck Creek Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri.

Helen Mae Henderson of Bernie Missouri, daughter of the late Fredrick Homer Shawn and Mary Margaret (Hasten) Shawn  was born on October 4, 1943 in Dewitt, Arkansas passed away on August 24, 2022 in Bernie, Missouri at the age of 78.  

She has lived in the Bernie, Bloomfield and San Simon, Arizona areas.  Helen enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, quilting, and playing Bingo. 

Helen was a retired waitress having worked many years at Tucker's Restaurant, Hickory House Restaurant and  4K Truck Stop.

Helen is survived by her companion Curtis Henderson; two sons Michael Webb of Essex, Missouri; Vernon (Vicky) Webb of Bloomfield, Missouri; one daughter Janice  (Chris) Smith of Wappapello, Missouri;  thirteen grandchildren Chris James, Michael C. Webb, Cody Smith, Samantha (Tyler) Niemeier, JC Pinkerton, Ana Smith, Vincent Webb, Valerie (Steven) Siebert, Vabian Webb, Octavio Ortiz, Diego Ortiz, Michael S. Webb, Lilith Webb; eleven great grandchildren Daphny James, Blaiklyn Webb, Michael D. Webb, Madilynn Smith, Karrson Sisco, Emberly Taylor, Devon Pinkerton, Benjamin Comstock, Quinton Peery, Jayce Peery, Zoey Ricketts; as well as a host of family and friends also survive. 

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Evelyn Denice Webb; four sisters Sue Smith, Gladys Tubb, Trella Arment, Mable Bailey; two brothers Bob Shawn, Joe Shawn. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Pastor Charles Robertson of Bloomfield officiating.  Burial to follow in the Harper Cemetery in Aid, Missouri and  Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.

Evelyn Renee Martinez passed peacefully in the arms of family on August 24, 2022.  She was born at 7:13 p.m. and met the eyes of Jesus at 7:14 p.m. the same day.

Evelyn was the daughter of Lucas Guadualupe and Adriana Gabriela (Franco) Martinez.

Her paternal grandparents are Evelia and Balentin Martinez of Guatemala; and maternal grandparents Heather and Arturo Franco of Sikeston, Missouri. 

Evelyn is also survived by two aunts Rebeca Franco of Sikeston, Missouri, Monica Franco of Campbell, Missouri; five uncles Cruz Franco of Sikeston, Missouri, Sam Franco of Sikeston, Missouri, Kaleb Brenna of Campbell, Missouri, Morel Martinez of Dexter, Missouri, Nery Martinez of Dexter, Missouri; one cousin Elliot Brenna of Campbell, Missouri as well as a host of family.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at 12:00 for the family until the time of service at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Pastor Charles Robertson of Bloomfield officiating.  Burial to follow in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri and  Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.

In Memory of Elbert Kenneth Massingill

Elbert Kenneth Massingill, 88, of Rockford, Illinois, formerly of Dexter, Missouri, departed this life on August 24, 2022, in Rockford, Illinois. Born February 3, 1934, in Hattieville, Arkansas, son of Alexander and Betty (Duvall) Massingill. United in marriage to Tina Mansfield.

Formerly employed as a Production Manager at Hawley Products in St. Charles, IL. Elbert loved farming and gardening, often gifting the majority of his vegetables to friends, family, and those in need. He enjoyed watching his great-grandkids at their sport and school activities.

Survived by daughter Rhonda (Ron) Himes; grandchildren, Ryan (Jolyn) Himes, Jen (Brad) Martin; great-grandchildren, Alec Martin, Miles Himes, Madelyn Martin, Eli Himes; sister-in-law, Judy Massingill; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by his wife; son, Elbert Kenneth Massingill Jr.; siblings, Robert Lee Massingill, Frank Massingill, Zettie Douglas, Wiladean Monroe, Mildred Davis and dear friend, Marlene Earls.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill Pennington officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery in Bernie, Missouri.

Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie is assisting with arrangements.
