Brett Scott, 61 of Clarkton, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022 at his residence in Clarkton, Missouri.
Brett, son of Jerald Dean and Luetta (Cookie) Crowder Scott, was born on Monday, December 12, 1960 in Danville, Illinois.
He was a factory worker for 34 years and a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Gideon.
On March 1, 1980 in Tucson, Arizona, he was united in marriage to Janet Kay Dishroon. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Jamie Kay Scott Vires and husband, Scottie of Kennett, Elizabeth Scott Kelly and husband, Kent of Piggott, Tabatha Scott Crow and husband, Jeremy of Dexter; four grandchildren, Breana Kailyn Scott of Piggott, Braelyn Rose Vires of Kennett, Kamdyn Blake Lee Scott of Piggott, Aaron Crow of Dexter; one brother, Gary Scott and wife, Karla of Williamsport, Indiana; two sisters, Star Scott Brown of Lafayette, Indiana and Mindy Lowery and husband, Troy of Thorntown, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four grandchildren, Brittlyn Dawn Scott, Brooklyn Leann Scott, Kaylie Elizabeth Scott, Kamille Leighton Scott.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Stanfield Cemetery, with Reverend Marty Carlisle officiating. Burial will immediately follow.
Landess Funeral Home and Crematory of Malden will be in charge of the arrangements.
Jackie Dale Burns of Puxico, Missouri, son of the late Charles Jasper and Thelma Blanche (Bailey) Burns was born on March 11, 1955, in Advance, Missouri and passed from this life on August 19, 2022, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 67.
He lived in the Southeastern Missouri area all of his life. Jackie loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed every sport. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with family, especially grand and great grandkids. Jackie was of the Baptist faith.
He retired from Arvin/ Faurecia in 2015.
Jackie married Teresa Carter on November 17, 1973 , in Gypsy, Missouri.
Jackie is survived by his wife of the home; one son Charles (Tina) Burns of Puxico, Missouri; two daughters Tanya (Russell) Baugus of Ellsinore, Missouri; Courtni (Chris) Wirz of Puxico, Missouri; one sister Beverly (George) Payne of McGee, Missouri; eight grandchildren Brandon (Hannah) Law, Maddyson Holloway, Bailey Burns, Byron Gross, William Baugus, Jax Wirz, Bryson Burns, and Tessa Wirz; three great grandchildren Blaze, Daisy, and Carter; also surviving are very close and personal friends Cindy, Randy and Jarrett Martin as well as a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Cowboy Church near Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. at the Cowboy Church near Puxico, Missouri with Marvin Jones and Scott Sifford of Puxico officiating and Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
Marvin Aquilla Garner of Dexter, Missouri was born in Dexter on March 8, 1934, and passed from this life on Monday August 15, 2022 at 9:34 PM, at the age of 88 years. Marvin was a faithful member of the Dexter church of Christ. He spent many years both in Greenville, IL, and Dexter teaching Bible classes, preaching, serving as an elder (Greenville), involved in mission work in Africa, Mexico, and India, and generously supporting missions, orphans, Christian education, and individuals.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents: Robert A Garner and Cora Lee (DeArman) Garner; brothers: Lewis, Lester, Ivan, Hubert, Chester, Robert, Larry, and Loyd Garner; sisters: Myrl Cook, Emma Stallion, Norma Grubbs, and Maxine Gillis.
Marvin is survived by his wife Evelyn of the home, along with daughter Sandra Lynn (Garner) Richey (husband Paul) of Dexter, son James David Garner of Greenville, IL; grandchildren: Neil Richey (wife Emily), Clint Richey (wife Abbie), granddaughter Elaine Dodd (husband Will); great-grandchildren: Peyton, Rebekah, Harper, Hayden, Mac, Gwyn, Reagan, and Weston; along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, other family and friends.
Marvin graduated from Dexter High School in 1952, after which, he spent two years working at and managing a dairy processing plant in Poplar Bluff; during which time he made the decision to attend Harding College and study chemistry and mathematics. After a year at Harding, Marvin married Evelyn Jane Thomen of Dexter on June 4, 1955. During their time at Harding, Marvin helped establish and served as Plant Manager for College Farm Dairy (owned and operated by Harding). They completed their time at Harding with Marvin graduating in May 1959, with his BS in Chemistry and minor in mathematics. After graduation he took some additional courses in education from Arkansas State and Harding. He then began teaching chemistry and mathematics at Charles G. Ross High School near Hayti. After teaching for a couple of years, Marvin decided to focus on a career in in the food processing industry. He and Evelyn moved to Greenville, IL; where he began work in food research for Pet, Inc. While working for Pet, Marvin and Evelyn adopted their two children (Sandra and James). In their spare time, they farmed and developed a sub-division (Lakeview Estates) on the lake where they lived. After his work at Pet, Marvin worked as Director of Research for Universal Flavors and Vitex America. Then the big move in 1983; he started his own food company (Garner Creative Products) and became a primary supplier to prisons and other institutions in Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Then in 2000, Marvin sold the company and he and Evelyn returned to Dexter; where they built a house on the exact location of the house where he grew up.
Throughout the years in Greenville, he loved and raised his two precious children; engaging in various activities of encouragement and support for them as they grew and matured into adults. Marvin’s love for Sandra and James was only surpassed by his love for Evelyn and his God.
We will miss you Marvin………. loving husband and Dad!
Faye Spencer, daughter of the late Almer Hudgins and Ava Lorene Jones, was born on April 2, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, and departed this life on August 16, 2022, at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 74 years.
Ms. Spencer was a former pharmacy technician who enjoyed old movies and tv and was a voracious reader. She grew up in St. Louis city but chose to relocate to Dexter in her retirement to be closer to family there.
She is survived by her daughter, Ava Spencer of St. Louis, Missouri.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
A memorial service will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel at 6:00 p.m.
Richard Terry William Sugg of Dexter Missouri, son of the late Finis and Margie Alice (Cosey) Sugg was born April 30, 1945 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and went to be with the Lord on August 13, 2022, passing peacefully at his home in Dexter, Missouri due to cancer at the age of 77.
Richard loved anything outdoors, gold and gem digging, metal detecting, hunting, fishing, camping no matter the weather. He enjoyed listening and playing music. Richard played many instruments and sang beautifully along with his siblings at every family gathering.
Richard was united in marriage to Lillian Janice Reese on December 26, 1964. Mrs. Sugg survives the home. Together they had three children, Kayeela Sugg of Dexter, Missouri, Margie Moore (Karl) of Goodman, Missouri, Cynthia Sugg of Dexter, Missouri; five grandchildren, Paige Sugg; Matt (Bridgett) Moore; Eric (Katey) Moore; Chantelle (Shannon) Middleton; Dustin Sugg; three great grandchildren Klayton Moore; Eli Middleton; Joni K. Duncan; three sisters Katricia Russell of Potosi, Missouri; Suzann (David) Marmillion of Monroe, Lousiana; Sheri Hancock of Dexter, Missouri. A host of family and friends also survive.
The family would like to Thank the many family and friends that gave so much love and support during this difficult time.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; one brother John Sugg.
Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, in Honor of Richard Sugg.
Memorial service will be held Friday, August 19, 2022 at 6 P.M. at the First Christian Church in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins And Sons Funeral Service of Dexter assisting with arrangements.
